Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two to seven awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must have a strong desire to pursue a career in one of the following fields: electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science.
  5. Must be a member of one of the following underrepresented groups: women, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians or the disabled. For the purpose of this award, a disability is defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  6. Must be a resident of the United States at time of application. U.S. citizenship is not required.
  7. Must plan to enroll full time.

Description: This award is available to current high school seniors planning to major in electrical engineering or computer science from underrepresented groups (women, African American, Hispanic, American Indian, and disabled students). Eligible applicants must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, be U.S. residents, and demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: The objective of the scholarship is to increase the pool of professionals in electrical engineering and computer science from underrepresented groups (women, African American, Hispanic, American Indian, and disabled). Students must demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: $4,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years. Renewal is based on the student majoring in electrical engineering, computer engineering, and/or computer sciences and maintaining a grade point average of 2.6 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $16,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available at the Design Automation Conference website. In addition to the completed application form, each student must submit the following items: three letters of reference from non-relatives, two of whom should be teachers familiar with the student's work, and one should come from an adult familiar with the student personally but not involved directly in his/her academics; official transcripts of SAT, ACT, and/or PSAT scores; a personal letter describing the student's career goals and why the student feels he/she should win the award; copy of the student's income tax return from the previous year, or if a minor, a copy of his/her parent's or legal guardian's tax return; and a copy of the student's FAFSA application. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federaul Student Aid) is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. If the FAFSA form cannot be completed by the deadline date, the student should submit one that is as complete as possible. The completed application and all supporting documents must be postmarked no later than the deadline date and sent to the address listed. Late entries will not be considered.
