Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. graduating high school seniors who have a grade point average of 3.4 or higher are eligible for this award. Students must have taken challenging courses throughout high school and demonstrated strong leadership roles within the community.

Application requirements for the Richie’s Spirit Foundation Significant Challenge College Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
Additional Information: The applicant must have taken challenging courses throughout his/her high school career and demonstrated strong leadership roles within his/her community. A select panel of judges will review all applications and the scholarship recipient will be announced in the summer. Upon submission, applications become property of Richie’s Spirit Foundation.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.

Applications are available online from the Richie's Spirit Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit his/her recommender's contact information and two short essays. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on the deadline date.
