Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must plan to major in nursing.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  5. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  6. Must be a resident of Baltimore, MD.

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors in Baltimore Maryland who plan to pursue a higher education in nursing. Applicants must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.

Additional Information: This scholarship is awarded in honor of Shirley E. Cooke, a respected health professional and long-time resident of Baltimore, Maryland. Shirley demonstrated a lifelong commitment to public service and the empowerment of young people through education, so each year an award is provided in her name to a local-area high school senior who plans to pursue a higher education in nursing.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for up to three years so long as the student maintains a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Information is available online at the CollegeBound Foundation website. Applications are only available online through the online portal. In addition to completing the CollegeBound Foundation Competitive Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation; a copy of his/her college acceptance letter(s); a typed essay addressing the topic listed on the application; community service verification (if applicable); and a copy of his/her most recent high school transcript, including the first semester of the senior year. All application materials must be received online no later than the deadline date.
