Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll as a college graduate student.
  4. Must demonstrate community service and involvement.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Resume
Additional Information: Awards will be announced in December.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit a current resume; documentation of his/her project/research, scholarly pursuit etc. (no more than two double-spaced, typewritten pages); three letters of recommendation, date no earlier than January of the current year; and official, unopened transcripts. If the applicant is a first-time graduate student, he/she must also include a copy of his/her acceptance letter. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
