Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman award.
  4. Must have an ACT score of 29 or higher OR rank in the top five percent of his/her class.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.85 or higher OR rank in the top five percent of his/her class.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 3.85 or higher OR an ACT score of 29 or higher.
  7. Must enroll full time.
  8. Must plan to attend Buena Vista University in Iowa.
  9. Must attend college or university in Iowa.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. high school seniors planning to enroll full time at Buena Vista University are eligible for this award. Students must meet two of the following requirements: a 3.85 grade point average, 29 ACT or rank in the top 5 percent of their class.

Application requirements for the Buena Vista University President’s Scholarship are:

Additional Information: If a President's Scholarship recipient is eligible for State of Iowa grant funds, the amount available will be subtracted from the University Scholarship. The total of all gift aid will never be less than the BVU tuition charge. However, an individual's financial need and direct charges may limit total gift aid (including outside scholarships) received.

Award Amount: Up to $27,000 annually. Scholarships are renewable for up to three years, as long as the recipient maintains a grade point average of 3.25 and full-time enrollment.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $125,272.

Applications for admission are available online from the Buena Vista University (BVU) website. There is not a separate application to apply for this award. A student will be considered upon admission. In addition to the completed admissions application, the student must submit official transcripts and SAT/ACT scores. Although completion of the FAFSA is not mandatory, it is encouraged. Students should file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon after Jan. 1 as possible. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. There is no set deadline to apply. Applications are accepted throughout the year, although priority consideration will be given to students who apply by January 30.
