  2. Must have a high school GPA of 4.0 or higher, or a college GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  3. Must be a resident of Sacramento, California.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.

Description: The Eugene and Thora Chin Scholarship Fund is available for students of Asian or Pacific Islander heritage. Applicants must reside in Sacramento, California and must demonstrate a record of excellent academic achievement.

Additional Information: Awarded annually with funds provided by the donations of Eugene and Thora Chin, this scholarship is provided to a Sacramento area student of Asian or Pacific Islander Heritage. Applicants must demonstrate the highest levels of academic merit and must plan to attend any accredited college or university in the United States. In addition to the previously stated application requirements, students must also submit two letters of recommendation from individuals who they are not related to, such as: a professor, teacher, or other instructor; a manager; or other community leader. Award selection will be based on a combination of academic merit and other factors, as determined by the individuals or organizations who are sponsoring the award. The Sacramento Region Community Foundation manages and administers dozens of scholarship programs that are available to local area students. Funds are financially supported by individuals, families, businesses, and other charitable organizations within Sacramento. Award Amount: $1,000 to $6,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,500.

Applications and additional information about this award may be found online at the Sacramento Community Foundation website. To apply for this award, students must first register an account and then complete the online scholarship application form. Once the account is created, students will be notified of precisely which awards they are eligible for. As a part of the online application, students must also submit short answer responses to one or more questions as outlined on the scholarship information and application page. All applications must be submitted online and must be received in full no later than the deadline date. Incomplete and late submissions will not be considered.
