  2. Must reside in or attend a college/university in Texas.
  3. Must be of Hispanic heritage.
  4. Must be an undergraduate student at the time of application.
  5. Must demonstrate leadership potential.

Description: The Manuel & Jane Zuniga Scholarship is available for Hispanic undergraduate students in Texas who demonstrate a significant potential for leadership.

Application requirements for the Manuel & Jane Zuniga Scholarship are:

  • FAFSA by 4/30/2018
  • Recommendation letter

Additional Information: The Hispanic Scholarship Consortium (HSC) provides scholarships to Central Texas Hispanic students and offers a network of support that mentors and empowers scholars to graduate from college as workforce-ready leaders who are empowered and engaged in the community. In partnership with HSC, this scholarship is funded annually by Manuel & Jane Zuniga in hopes to identify Hispanic undergraduate students in Texas who demonstrate significant leadership potential.

Award Amount: The amount of the award will be determined based on the student's financial need.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Information about this scholarship is available online on the Hispanic Scholarship Consortium website at the address provided. To be considered for an award, students must first register for an account with the online scholarship application portal. In addition to the completed online application, students must submit the following documents: Two essay responses to the questions listed on the application, as well as any additional questions listed for the specific scholarship(s) the student is interested in applying for; a current resume; a listing of all community service hours completed; a copy of scanned, official transcripts; a copy of the student's FAFSA Student Aid Report; and email addresses of at least two individuals who can provide an electronic letter of reference for the applicant. International students and non-U.S. citizens must also provide evidence of legal residency. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. All applications must be completed online, on or before the deadline date.
