Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident.
  3. Must enroll as a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student.
  4. Must be a South Carolina resident at the time of high school graduation and at the time of college enrollment.
  5. Must attend an eligible South Carolina insitution.
  6. Must have a cumulative grade point ratio of 3.0 or higher based on the Uniform Grading Scale at time of high school graduation.
  7. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for South Carolina high school seniors who are planning to attend an eligible South Carolina college. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The Legislative Incentive for Future Excellence (LIFE) Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program administered by the financial aid office at each eligible public and independent institution in South Carolina. The purpose of the scholarship is to increase access to higher education, improve employability of South Carolina students, provide incentives for students to be better prepared for college, and encourage students to graduate from college on time. *Please note: An eligible student cannot be a S.C. HOPE Scholarship, Palmetto Fellows Scholarship or Lottery Tuition Assistance recipient.

Award Amount: The award is for up to the cost of tuition at eligible two-year colleges and a $300 book allowance. Awards are renewable until the degree program is completed.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,572.
