Number of Awards & Eligibility: 42 awards offered annually, 3 from each Georgia Congressional district.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must enroll full time.
  3. Must plan to attend the University of North Georgia as a first-time freshman.
  4. Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Must have an SAT combined score of 920 or higher, with a minimum of 480 on critical reading and 440 on math; OR an ACT combined score of 20 or higher with a minimum 20 in English and 18 in math.
  6. Must be a legal resident of Georgia for 12 consecutive months or more immediately preceding the fall term for which an award is being sought.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  8. Must graduate from a high school in Georgia.
  9. Must be a graduating high school senior.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available to Georgia high school seniors who are planning to attend the University of North Georgia. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and a score of 920 or higher on the SAT or 20 or higher on the ACT. Recipients must agree to serve in the Georgia Army National Guard.

Additional Information: Each student must meet the following requirements: qualify for regular admission to UNG's bachelor's degree program; and meet medical, emotional, and physical health standards required for enlistment in the Georgia Army National Guard prior to Aug. 1.

Award Amount: The award provides full assistance for four years of study at UNG to cover the cost of tuition, fees, on-campus room and board charges, uniforms, and an allowance for books and supplies. Recipients must agree to serve as soldiers in the Georgia Army National Guard while in the Corps of Cadets at UNG. Upon graduation, recipients accept commissions as second lieutenants and serve not less than four additional years in the Georgia Army National Guard. Recipients must maintain eligibility for the scholarship during the four years at UNG by maintaining full-time enrollment status; maintaining required academic standards; participating fully in the ROTC program; maintaining membership in the Georgia Army National Guard; and demonstrating any required qualities as determined by his/her officer.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $29,432.

Applications are available online from the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) website. The student must complete the questions in Section A of the application and write a one-page essay in Section B of the application that states why he/she believes he/she is deserving of this scholarship and discussing his/her educational and career goals. The student must attach a full-length photograph of himself/herself in formal dress to the application. The student must also attach a letter of recommendation on official school letterhead from an administrative official at his/her high school. The student should then forward the application to his/her representative in the Georgia General Assembly to have Section C of the application completed. Information for state representatives is available online at legis.state.ga.us. The completed application and all supporting documents must be received at the University of North Georgia (UNG) Admissions Office by the deadline date. All applicants must also attend an interview with the selection committee, if requested, and must also apply for admission to UNG and be accepted for regular admission.
