Awards start at $1,000 annually for the first year of enrollment and go up each year that the student is enrolled in school. Full-time enrolled students will receive $4,000 for the second and third years, and $5,000 for the fourth year. Scholarships are automatically renewable for up to seven additional semesters providing the scholar completes 27 credit hours in the first academic year following high school graduation (12 hours fall, 15 hours spring), and 30 hours every year thereafter (15 hours per semester) AND maintains satisfactory academic progress (as defined by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education). Awards are subject to available funding.

The Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship (ACS) program provides scholarships to Arkansas residents pursuing a higher education. Eligibility requirements for the Academic Challenge Scholarship are based on three student categories: Traditional (Incoming Freshman), Current Achievers (current college students) and Nontraditional Students. The award notice includes the student's name, address, social security number, the actual amount the student is eligible to receive, and the student's first institutional choice as indicated on the application form. The award notice also explains the Arkansas Department of Higher Education’s disbursement procedures and conditions of the Academic Challenge Scholarship.
