Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund
Up to $500 per semester, non-renewable. Students must reapply for scholarship assistance each semester that he/she needs funding. Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, utility bills, car maintenance, child care, etc. Desha County Single Parent Scholarship Funds are not released to scholarship recipients. The money is forwarded directly to the service provider(s). The total amount of the award can be used for one of the eligible services, or it can be divided between two or more.
The number of recipients for this program varies depending on funding and the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given semester.
The applicant must demonstrate financial need, and must submit proof of income and resources. Examples include: tax returns; a letter from an employer; if receiving Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC); a food stamp case number or Medicaid number; a print-out from his/her local Department of Human Services (DHS) office; or his/her last three consecutive paycheck stubs.
