Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must graduate from Washington, Jefferson, Kennedy, or Xavier high schools in Cedar Rapids, IA; OR from the Linn-Mar, College Community, or Marion school districts.
  4. Must plan to attend Iowa State University, University of Iowa, or University of Northern Iowa.
  5. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors graduating from high schools in the metropolitan Linn-Mar, College Community, and Marion school districts are eligible for this award. Students must plan to attend Iowa State University, the University of Iowa or the University of Northern Iowa.

Application requirements for the Kleiman Family Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • EFC statement
  • FAFSA
Additional Information: Eligible students must demonstrate financial need.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually, renewable for up to three additional years based on achievement and performance. Please note: The award will pay for full tuition as long as the amount does not exceed $5,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. To apply for this award, a student must first apply for nomination at his/her high school guidance office. One male and one female candidate from each eligible school will be nominated for final consideration with the scholarship committee. Applications and supporting documentation for this scholarship must be submitted to the student's high school guidance counselor by the deadline date to be considered.
