What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Alicia

From my college experience so far, I have gained a large sense of achievement and responsibility. I have come from a family where college seemed out of reach because of financial strains, but I have worked very hard to stay in college by working multiple jobs at once to support myself and my education. My college education has made me feel very accomplished even though I am only in my fourth semester. I am very happy that I have put so much efort into being a college student because my family is very proud of me and I am even proud of myself for getting this far. I am very excited for the rest of my college experience at a 4 year university because it is very important for me to graduate with a Bachelor's degree and succeed. I don't want my financial situation to be the only thing standing in my way of succeeding in college and in life.

My college experience has been very academically focused. I have learned from observing others that many view college as one giant party and they do not take this opportunity seriously. I personally am here to get an education and I am finding it very educational and valuable. I have made some great friends here though. I am finding it valuable especially because I am learning that there are many people who do not have a drive to succeed and I am learning that these are people I may not want to associate with since they do not share these values. College has been a great experience so far and I look forward to the next two years.

I been attending Phoenix college in Phoenix Arizona and it has given my career a boost towards my transfering to a university. My college experience has been so far exciting , i been taking the requiered classes for me to transfer to a university and college, has allowed me to be more social with new people that i heaven't met before. I have learned that in colllege its really one more step into the career of your choice especially my choice which, want to be a Registered Nurse . Attending college has had a great value on me because I am the first out of my family to go to college. I want my family to be proud of me because, they never had a chance to go further in their education, asnd my parents want me to have a better future. I also want to be an example to my younger cousins. I want to encourage them not to give up in school and that they too, can go to a school of their choice. I also beleive now that in my college experience everyone deserves to attend college and to never give up on their dreams.

The University of Arizona has provided me with many opportunities. Friendship is one thing that I was not expecting. I have met many different types of people with many different interests and I have built great healthy and lasting relationships with all of them. Academically, the UA has been very supportive. I feel very comforted by my professor’s knowledge and experience in my majors. They are all very supportive and encouraging. The University also provides many opportunities for students to get involved, in the community, in the school, and in your field of study. This University really impacts you in every aspect of your life to help you grow.

Guadalupe

Attending the University of Arizona has certainly been an experience for myself. I made a big transition from the public high school located on the south side that I attended to the big and diverse campus the University of Arizona offers. This college experience has definitely opened my eyes to what is out there and what the world has to offer. I feel lucky to say I have grown a lot and that I have matured as a person. The college experience is far from easy and that came to a shock for me; however, it was a much needed wake up call for myself. I have realized that life isn't easy and that the harder one works the more it is going to pay off in the long run. Right now the college experience may be exhausting and stressful, but I take that as the first step to my journey of how I live my life. The first step is always the hardest.

Justin

It is difficult to put my college experience into words. Like any life shaping event, it has been a rollercoaster, one filled with many peaks and troughs. The University of Arizona allowed me to come into my own and truly get my bearings on figuring out who I really am. The school allowed me make great mistakes, learn from them, and then turn them into grand successes. Also as my peers and I have grown, I have been able to determine the ones who will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have taken away so many beneficial things, and even though I have much more to learn, the school has helped me narrow my direction into something realistic and useful. The future has gone from uncertain and overwhelming to bright and optimistic. Through all the good times and bad times, I have taken each one as lesson from which i never look back. Thanks to my college experience, I am only looking forward.

The most important thing that I've gotten of my college experience is knowing what a true community feels like. Tucson is known locally as the biggest college town in the nation, and I have to agree. The university is the main attraction of the city, and EVERYONE supports it. It seems almost every program on campus, whether it's the homecoming football game, a theatrical performance, or a charity walk, has its complete share of Tucson and alumni supporters. School spirit is so ubiquitous on campus that it can literally be seen from a satellite map (see Bear Down Gym). Half of every student's wardrobe consists of red and blue, and they wear it proudly. But perhaps the strongest display of community has arisen within the last couple weeks. Following the recent shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and other victims at a grocery store, Tucson and the UA joined together in a way that I've never seen or felt before. In an era of crisis and mourning, everyone became each other's neighbor and friend. Through this, an aura of oneness and hope blanketed the town, and has made me even more proud to be a Wildcat.

Out of my college experience I have recieved a deeper way of learning new information, a deeper understanding of the information being taught to us, and a new way of processing the information that is being taught. Why has it been valuable to attend college classes? Well for starters, you learn more of hands on and one on one in the field that you want to proceed in with your life. For me, I am wanting to go into the field of Probation Officer, so I am taking the Sociology classes that will help me understand, how society can affect the way people act and what make them decide to make the wrong choices that they do. Also I am taking the Criminal Justice classes that help me learn the law, between what is right and wrong in they way you have to process the paperwork, and how to handle and help the ones who are on probation, to help them get their lives back on the right path. Also with the criminal justice classes it has helped me out with dealing with the cops in the family disbute that has occured since my grandfathers passing this year.

Choosing to go to the University of Arizona has been one of the best and most rewarding decisions I have ever made. I have learned so much already and I am only in the second semester of my sophomore year. The professors that I have had have all made such an impression on me. Every day I become more and more excited about my life after college. The professors that I have this semester expecially have such a love for what they teach it really shows and makes me enjoy going to class that much more. I think that professors like that are a dime a dozen and I am so very thankful to have had experienced them in my classes, because if I hadn't decided to come to the University of Arizona I might not feel the way I do now about becoming a doctor. Witnessing the love a person feels about what they do is amazing and it has been so valuable for me to attend this university to see that, now I get excited about learning from these professors, and I am even more excited about going to Medical school to learn so much more.

I am a full-time staff member who works while attending part-time as an Art History major. I study avant-garde art movements that keenly strike a chord within my being (such as Futurism, Neo-Expressionism, Relational-Aesthetics, protest-art). The innovative and passionate artists I have the pleasure of reading about and how throughout history they have tried to infuse rationality into an often irrational world, as well as the impact of that on artists today fascinate me. Particularly, during my research, I want to explore art created by those living with AIDS and contribute to art historical analysis and how it all speaks to our culture and attitude toward AIDS. I would eventually love to train as an interior designer and work on contemporary, urban design projects. In addition to being a student, I mentioned the University employed me. As a Credentials Evaluator, I process new and returning student applications and engage in transcript evaluation. Studying here has given me unique insight into the world of academia; I get to look at it as a both a professional and a student. I am poised now to take on any professional challenge as a disciplined well-rounded individual.

I learned the value of time and that it is a precious gift. Yes everyone says college is the best time of your life, its when you find yourself and truly become the person you want to be, enjoy it because it will be over before you know it. Being the first person to attend a Universtiy in my family I had no idea what to expect, once I got here I was overwhelmed with what it takes to keep up with classes, clubs, socializing and most importantly family. I learned that everything I did had to be done to the best of my abilities the first time. As many college students soon find out, if there wasn't time to do it right to begin with then there probably would never be a time. It also taught me the value of attending college, I have not only gained educational knowledge but I have found out what it means to be an adult in all aspects of the word. An adult isn't someone who is 18-years-old its someone who knows the affect of their choices, learns who they are and begins living according to that.

Rachel

Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to have received several awards for my artistic ability. My senior year of high school I painted a portrait of my grandpa in a hospital bed. That portrait alone won me 3 art awards (one of which I won Grand Prize in an art show sponsored by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords). I was able to attend college without having to take out a student loan. Now, I find myself dreaming of archeological digs in the middle of a desert, knee deep in sand, uncovering yet another ancient remain of a city long since forgotten. However, I lack in the resources needed to have a successful college career. My dreams have become in jeopardy. I may not be able to uncover cities in desolate areas around the world, but I am not one to settle. I will one day hold a dust covered brush in one hand and a broken piece of the past in another. This award will bring me one step closer to making this dream of mine a reality.

Erica

Tough question. What have I gotten out of my college experience? What haven't I gotten out of my college experience. I go to classes I love everyday, learning something that pertains to my major and interests me. I am currently in a sorority and now have 200 sister, one thing I couldn't say until I came to U of A. I have gained independence by living away from home and have learned how to better handle myself in situations. I have learned how to cooperate better by learning to live with someone else and everyone else in the dorms. There are so many great aspects about college life and the University of Arizona, that my list can go on and on. Although I value all of the above, the most important thing to me is how willing the University is work with it's students to assure their success. Because of this, I know I made the best possible choice for me by choosing the University of Arizona.

Julia

I have been attending college since october 2010, i have made many friends and am learning to try new thing. i have had a good college experience so far. i live in the dorm at my college and do sometimes get frustrated with students being disruptive while i am doing homework. I am a photography major and have learned a vast amount about photography since i have been attending college. i do not drink or party and since i have been here i have been invited to many party's and declined every single one because i think drinking is a bad influence on not just people but it reflects on their school work and daily life. i think attending college has been valuable to me,, not only am i learning academically but also learning about myself. i have learned how to make school my first priority and am thankful that i have had the chance to attend college and live on campus.

Natasha

My college experience is something that I will always talk about for the rest of my life. From freshmen year to my senior year I have met so many different people, my first roommate, my first gay friend, my second family. How I met each one of them has a story on its own, I met one of my really good girl friends in this frat that i join my freshmen year. We joke about how we are sisters from another mother. Since I have a very outgoing personality, i had no problem meeting new people, however this was one of my biggest flaws. Academically, I started to fall into a rut because of my social butterfly behavior. Thankfully UA put me back on the right track with all their extra help! It has been valuable to attend because without these college experiences I wouldn't be this person I am now: strong, independent, social, active, challenging, responsible, organizied, student, who loves her school and will always bleed RED and BLUE.

Mason

Perhaps the most valuable experience of college is the people that I've met. To be more specific, the faculty and the professional contacts that I have made. Working with student advocacy groups and visiting professor office hours has been an unbelievably rich academic experience. Additionally, the personal friends that I have made are simply elightening. Often times, students become reliant on their surroundings in high school, and even jaded by them. However, college opens the door to meet people from everywhere with incredibly different backgrounds. Meeting people in college is the most valuable aspect of the college experience.

Attending a university allowed me to discover the identity of myself; once obscure but now self-evident. As my passions align across a wide spectrum of interests, I have discovered that becoming a secondary education teacher in the visual arts and English, is where I am meant to be and who I am. Over the years, teachers have impacted my life’s choices and altered my paths for the better as I have become wiser and more capable of articulating the importance of selfless acts as well as guiding those who are lost within themselves . The University of Arizona is filled with many students who have been enlightened, such as I, and we continue to work together to strive for intelligence and the well-being of our environment and community. My newfound passion and love in life is to guide the youth, the future of our country, on a bright and perspective path to success in the world in which we live. The University of Arizona has changed my perspectives as a student and allowed my evolution into a shrewd young adult and I promise to continue my open-mindedness as I walk the path to greatness.

Joanna

So far, I have stepped into a path leading to a journey of wisdom. It is important to keep progressing since wisdom should always over top experience. Attending The University of Arizona is only opening the gate towards that path.

Marisa

I believe that my college experience has been very beneficial to me. It has allowed me to advance in my choosen field as well as experience new opportunities and learn about the many different options I have post-graduation. My school has many resources to allow me the best chance to succeed. I have also been able to network and meet new people.

Chase

There have been many things that I have gotten out of my college experience so far, including a more advanced education and new friends. However, I believe, so far, the most important thing I have learned is how to be responsible and live on my own. This is the first time I have lived on my own and I am learning how to be responsible in managing all aspects of my life. This is very different and new to me, yet I accept the responisbility with open arms, knowing that I must take this step to eventually take another. I have grown as a person and have learned more from living on campus and in the dorms than I have sitting in a 200 person lecture hall. Although the education I gain is very valuable and essential to my success, what I have learned outside the classroom at college has been equally, or more important.

I've been attending Ukrainian college for 4 years. Well, it was a waist of time. American college experience is the best. Every day I learn sooo much! Classes are fun and interactive. I can express my opinion without being mocked, and professors are open to any questions and comments. American professors are experienced, knowledgeable, and patient. Their lectures are supported by presentations, videos, discussions and group work. The classes are never boring! I've been in American college for only two years, but I became more educated and wiser person. My world views have changed dramatically. I learn how to listen other poeple's opinions without critisism, how to understand different practices and values without judging, and how to be open to the new experiences. Back in Ukraine I maintained "A" and "B" , but learning was monotonous and unproductive. Here I love waking up every morming and going to college. I know there is a fruitful day ahead of me, full of new discoveries and fun!

Jessica

I have been in college for 4-5 years now I graduated and transferred from a 2 year community college with my Associates degree in December 2010. This has been a process for me, after I graduated high school I was a major procrastinator, however since attending college I have learned how to organize a schedule, to stay on task, and not wait till the last minute. It is valuable to attend so that I can give my 3 year old daughter a better life. My dad always told me having a child doesn’t make things impossible it just means you have to work harder. I am determined and will work as hard I have to, to take care of my family.

I went back to school later in life and although I am older than most of the students here, I have realized that I have something to gain from a younger point of view. I have gained new knowledge, lifelong friends and colleagues. I know for a fact that the experience has kept me feeling younger. Its value to me is the reawakening of my thirst for knowledge and I am now committed to continue my education. I have applied for graduate school and hope to attain my PhD. This would have not been possible had it not been for my time here at the University of Arizona. As a veteran, the Vets Office for students was an invaluable resource for me and was instrumental in my decision to become more involved in volunteer activities, which has only served to enrich my life. I plan on setting up a similar program if I am accepted to the University of Montana Graduate School this fall to not only help veterans, but the surrounding communities

College has introduced me to a new way of thinking about ways of thinking. What I have learned is that if you want others to respect your ideas, you have to first respect theirs. Although this is a social rule most of us are taught in elementary school, it took the actual experience of being in an environment where such an idea is widely practiced for me to understand what a difference it can make. I value my college experience because now I finally understand that my opinions, even though they may be different from those of my parents, are not necessarily wrong. College has given me the opportunity to explore who I am and what makes me happy. As a result I am now more confident in my plans for the future than I ever have been, and it feels good.

Lindsey

The biggest thing I am currently learning at college is how to be independant. I am going to an out of state school that is about a 3 hour plane ride from my family. I have never been that far from my parents. In the beginning I had a bad roommate situation and I was ready to pack up and leave Arizona and go back to Washington. But after learning how to get a new roommate and figure out better living situations on my own, I feel I have grown up so much in my four months of being at this school. Another things I have learned is how to meet new people and put myself out there. I used to know all of the people I grew up with and they had been my friends. When I came to college I felt so alone and didn't know how to make friends. Forcing myself to talk to people has helped me become so much more of a confident person.

Dominick

As a student at the University of Arizona, I have learned things in and out of the classroom that I will carry with me through life. I have learned much about business (my major) but I have learned more about life as a young adult. I have learned to grow as an individual, living in a dorm with a stranger my freshman year. I have learned to balance club, work, academic, and relationship obligations well. I have learned to overcome adversity--as the shooting in Tucson forced all of us too here at the U of A--and how to have hope for the future. I have learned that working towards your long term goals should be an every-day exercise, and I have learned that only hard work nets positive results. I hope that I will be considered for this scholarship because I strive every day that I am on campus to make my college a better place for other students to not only get an education but to live and grow in a positive way like I have.

Shane

My college experience has been valuable since I started school and I am positive what I learn attending the University of Arizona will be important towards my future . Since being here I have simply become more mature out of necessity. I have learned to be more organized and to be prepared for whatever I decide I want to accomplish. In addition to maturing I have learned to appreciate others despite their vast differences. I have become more accepting to new ideas as well as respect different cultures, and whatever traditions they may have. If I were not to attend the University of Arizona I believe that I would not be a well rounded individual and would not have been prepared for life outside of school. Thefore my college experience is the key to my success in my future endeavors.

Kelly

The college experience has provided me with an incredible education, as well as life long friends and great memories. I transferred to the University of Arizona for the Fall semester of 2010, so I know how important it is to find a school that fits you perfectly. For me, the U of A is that place. The classes are the kind that aren't easy, but if you try, you'll learn a lot and do well. It has been so valuble to attend the U of A because the education is one of a kind, as is the city of tucson and the activities that take place here.

dusty

I both work and attend classes at the University of Arizona and have had a great experience with advisors and other faculty on campus. In addition, I have enjoyed a beautiful, large and diverse campus environment that makes me feel like I am a part of something greater than myself. The campus community is, overall, a very freindly and open group who value education, research and open mindedness. It's a spectacular environment with many opportunities and hope for the future.

Valerie

The University of Arizona has given me the opportunity to come out of my shell and find myself not only as a student but as a person. My experiences have brought me friends that will last a lifetime, enthusiasm for my future career and the material I will need to succeed. I have had the opportunity to go to school with people from all over the country and visit areas that pictures do not do justice. Before college I always dreamt of getting out of New England and hated the area I was from. My time at the University of Arizona has been better than could imagine but it was valuable in also making me appreciate my home, city and the ones I left behind.

Jerri-Lynn

I have learned how to dream during the begginning of my college career and not only to dream, but to make those dreams come true. I dreamed I would become an independent, athlete, dancer, and engineer and it seems like I am putting in the right steps in becoming all of these amazing things. A range of the minorities in which I am surrounded by day to day reside in the critical stages of obesity or diabetes. Not only are these deficiencies show through the majority of the minorities in my vicinity, but many of my family members attain these traits, thus I have a high risk of obtaining some of these diseases. Therefore, I aspire to accomplish the goal of becoming a genetic engineer. Becoming a genetic engineer is not my number one goal for attending college though—my number one goal is to be able to learn the skills and material needed to improve the health of human beings. I, along will not find the cure to all of these common diseases, but can certainty guarantee I will have a helping hand in discovering solutions to improve heart conditions, diabetes, arthritis, obesity, and even cancer.

Julie

Of the time I have attended the University of Arizona I learned to be independent. I learned to step away from wasting time calling parents with every problem and start fixing them. College is the start to the rest of my life, so it is important for me to reach out for help where the university provides it and learn from there. The majority of things I have already learned in college would be nonacademic because of how much growing up takes place in the first few months. In addition to independence, I have noticed how much confidence I have gained. When leaving a group of friends at home, finding a new support system of friends becomes extremely valuable. I can now confidently introduce myself and start conversations and make connections that may find friends. Now that a college degree is in reach, I am also much more motivated to achieve the grades I want. I manage my time where I spend the right amount of time studying and stay motivated by receiving a degree. Attending the University of Arizona teaches so many life lessons in addition to an education.

Diana

I am currently in my second semester of my freshman year at the University of Arizona. This is such a great school and I have enjoyed every minute of it from the start. Coming in I wasn't sure what to expect, I knew it would be hard work but I didn't realize how much until my first couple weeks of class; it is definitely a lot of work. For me education is the key to success hence my time here at the U of A has been extremely valuable to me. I have gained so much knowledge in the short time I've been here and I am looking forward to my remaining time. I know that I am in the right place and this is just the beginning of my journey to becoming a succesful business woman.

Shannon

My college experience is valuable to me because it has consisted not only of academic growth but of personal growth as well. I feel like I have become more responsible and dependable as a student and more outgoing and confident as a person. I am also a student athlete which has greatly developed my character and work ethic in addition to my school pride. College has taught me the importance of moderation, time management, and living a balanced life as I am a full time student who is also on a quest for a National Championship. I feel like I have every opportunity to excel in the classroom as well as on the playing field. Attending college at the University of Arizona has made me realize how fortunate I am to have the priveledge of receiving a higher education in a setting that is also social and fun. My college experience has greatly affected me as a student, an athlete, and most importantly as a person who will remember both the academic and life lessons that I have learned here thus far. I feel like college has helped me to grow up and find the person I want to be.

Olivia

My college experience has been wonderful. The professors here are for the most part helpful and really want their students to succeed. I find myself enjoying the time I set aside to learn and study for my classes because the knowledge and information I have received is beneficial to me. I would not have chosen to attend any other university because I have never once been upset with my college experience and really appreciate all I have learned from being here.

Aaron

Since starting college I have grown beyond my initial perceived limitations. I have been pushed to become more responsible, better organized, and a team player. I suppose the lesson that has been the most valuable to my life is that I now realize that I cannot do everything myself, nor was I meant to. Working in teams with others to study, on team projects, or even just a car pool to save on gas has enriched my life in a very rewarding, and real sense. I really feel connected now, not just on a personal level, but at college, in the community, and even as a really small part of this wonderful planet. I feel alive and challenged every day, although sometimes it might seem a bit overwhelming all I have to do is remember that we are all in this together, my teachers, classmates, and tutors. I have also learned things I never wanted to know, and more math than I thought possible. As an aspiring engineer my college experience has taught me the language of mathematics and its application. This ongoing experience has, and is radically shaping my life for the better.

Jennifer

As a freshman, I have already received valuable experience not only maturing, but also academically. Being a new and vital member of Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers), I am preparing myself not only for the classes that I will be taking in terms of engineering and design knowledge, but also for the future career that I plan on pursuing. This activity has given me the drive and determination to reach my goal of becoming a Mechanical Engineer. Through the schools academics, I have learned how to study but more importantly how to manage my time. With many deadlines constantly interacting with one another, students learn how to do their best work under stressful conditions. Because it is so early in my college career, I have found one of the most valuable things I have learned is just to grow up. Living on your own and being in charge of doing everything by yourself has grounded me and helped me to determine what kind of person I really want to be. This combined with the goal of a degree in Engineering makes me excited for the future and how a few years of hard work can truly pay off.

Tayler

I have been volunteering at Neighborhood Ministries, a place for children, who extend from abandon and abusive homes, to come into an environment that stabilizes and creates positive influences in their lives. I fell completely head over heels in love with mentoring and being a role model to these children. I finally made a decision to attend the University of Arizona and commit my life to do whatever I can to help children in need. I am currently majoring in family studies with the overlying goal to go to law school to obtain my degree in child advocacy. I can not even begin to tell someone how deep my passion runs to help others. I am now a sophomore in college and I have never worked so hard to obtain the grades I have. I feel as though it is extremely important to attend college so I can move forward toward a future that will enable me to help others become all that they can be. I have such a passion and uncontrollable love for helping those who are less fortunate, and that is the sole reason I personally find it extremely valuable to attend the University of Arizona.

Ivdan

Thus far college has been both extremely fun but at the same time really stressful. I have been provided the challenge I wanted with the career I chose and I am satisfied in the direction my life is taking and the opportunities, friends, and relationships that are presenting themselves by attending college. A college education is truely valuable in every extent of the word.

jennifer

what i have gained out of my college experience is something i will be able to take and cherish in my life for years to come. which is the ability to thrive, no matter what obstacles we face, together, tucson can thrive.

Danica

The college experience had aided me in finding my true self. In high school I excelled academically and socially. However, once I entered a new environment (college), I found myself feeling lost and unable to enjoy that I finally made it to the big leagues. It took one semester, but I realized that I was being challenged in life. As time progressed, I learned to manage time effectively and excel in exams and general classroom lectures. I opened myself up to the environment and made friends in my classes. It has been truly valuable to attend college because it has taught me to challenge myself and reminded me of the person that I am.

Gresa

My college experience has reinforced the idea in my mind that even when there is little hope about the future, there is so much to be thankful for in the present. Although I sometimes wonder if I would have been happier attending another university, I know that I am fortunate enough to be receiving an education where all the tools I need to reach my career goals are available to me. Therefore, my college experience has revealed to me all that I should be grateful for, because I have an opportunity that not everyone is fortunate enough to have. The value of attending college to me is the amount of self growth and maturation it has facilitated in me. College has helped me to learn who I am and what I truly care about in life, and that has caused a huge appreciation for all that I have, including my family, my education, and the support I have through many facets of the university system.

Nicole

The only passion I have ever experienced in life is for learning. I feel alive sharing ideas and allowing my knowledge to grow. I feel connected to the bigger picture. I feel the presence of opportunities that could never be obtained without the knowledge I gain from embracing and immersing myself in every wonderful facet of life. At my university, I am flooded by diversity: people and things that I would never begin to know or understand otherwise; rooms filled with sticky, wonderful thoughts and ideas, bouncing from head to head, inspiring, motivating, altering. Inspiring me to move outside my box, to accept and to analyze; motivating me to get up and try new things; altering my perspective of people, the world and my understanding of both. College is the biggest challenge I have ever faced. It presents the world to me. It makes me long to be a part of it, to know it, to understand it. But most of all, it makes me face myself. College instills in me the greatest sense of self-discovery that can ever be reached: to learn is to be everything that I ever wanted or ever could want.

andrea

My college experience has molded me into a mature, focused, openminded adult that is going to help me become the successful surgeon I have been dreaming of since I was a little girl. I have been attending Phoenix College for the past two years where I have gained an incredible amount of knowledge towards medicine and my other required courses. Being in college and not being able to receive any financial aid I was forced to work two jobs to pay for my classes and books. This has taught me to be disiplined with my school work, because I am working so hard to pay for them so there is no room for mistakes in my academics. College has been so valuable to me because i have met so many professors that enjoy teaching so I use them to my advantage and learn as much as possible. I have also met alot of students in my classes that are willing to help in any way possible. I look forward to continuing my studies so I can be the first one in my family of four to recieve an associates degree in science and continue to recieve my bachelors in physiology.

Angela

I have received much from my college experience. I have gotten a group of motivated, extremely supportive, wonderful friends who I intend to stay in touch with for years to come. I have become a much more independent person and see myself as being able to attend graduate school and do bigger things when the time comes. I have met many engaging, interesting, and enthusiastic professors and graduate students who encourage and support any and all students who are likewise engaged and motivated in the classroom.

I have lived in one place for all my life. I have stayed with the same people kindergarten through my senior year in high school. I was never really exposed to many situations, and I stayed within a bubble, and never really broke out. Then I moved. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I had to go to a place where I knew ten people out of 38,000 students. Mind you that my University now is half the population of the town where I grew up. It put me in a completly new situation. I had to learn and adapt. College made me grow up. I could no longer hold my parent's hands and ask for help. Although it was a frightening experience, I have learned a great deal. I can pay my own bills, I have learned how to budget, I have learned how to get to classes on time, and Iearned how to go grocery shopping. These are simple skills, but important, and without attending college I would not have learned these skills. I have gotten a new perspective on life, and learned how to live in a different world.

I've learned a lot from college in ways I've never expected. I was going to go to college just to take classes and get my degree. But since being in college I've made a lot of friends and reconnected with some old friends. I also joined some clubs and got really involved with my college even more and even talked to people whom I normally won't talk to. College is a bit more life-like than high school. In college you have classes with people who want to take that class and it makes the class more fun with everyone participating. I found it easier to take a class when you know the people in it then when you're taking it by yourself. The college teachers are the best teachers I have ever had. Even if I don't really know what the class is about or if I don't really need it I will take it because a teacher I like is teaching it. I think college is valuable to attend because college is a place of building yourself up and making social connections that will help you in life.

I love my school because of the thriving student body. Everyone here is proud to be a Wildcat, which makes me proud to attend this school. I have joined the Future Teacher's Club in order to get involved in the university and to learn more about the teaching profession. I alwo work for a tutoring company, in which I tutor elementary students after school. My classes are valuable to furthering my education. I plan to major in Early Childhood Education, and I feel like I am becoming prepared to be an educator from my experience here at The University of Arizona.

Out of most of my time here at the University of Arizona, I believe I have attained more knowlage than I had before. This is what school or college is about and thats why we go to it because we gain and obtain knowlage that we may be able to use in the future. Also another good thing about college experience is that you get new friends and get to be around people that you can enjoy time with instead of just going to work everyday and seeing the same people all the time. These are the two of the best things that I have gotten out of my college experience and I'm extremely greatful that I got to attend something this cool in my life.
