What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Jarrett

It is hard to explain all I have gotten out of my college experience in only one semester. The one semester I have attended at the University of Arizona so far has built my friend circle to be more than just a circle but such a vast group of amazing people. Each day there is a new person to meet and another story to learn about them all while being immersed in such a beautiful enviroment with sunshine around 365 days a year. The curriculum is so broad but is directed toward the job world ahead at the end of the four years you attend. It is competitive and so is the job world so being put in a large campus such as this one is doing something more than just passing thousands of students through classes. Each person is researching something else and all striving for greateness so the competitive edge is engrained in the this academic society. I have embraced this competitve way in my academics which has bettered my grades as well as my knowledge in all subjects. In my college experience this knowledge is the most valuable component to life I can recieve.

I have learned that college is a fun new experience. It can be frightening at first, but in the end once you meet the people surrounding you, the faculty and staff, that it is an amazing place. This college experience is the most amazing and valuable existing part of my life. I love it! In fact, attending college here has led me to realize that this is where I am suppose to be. I have learned that taking a chance to become a better person, and becoming something of myself it the best choice, much better than sitting home with my parents and regretting having to compete for a job, when in the end I will be having a degree behind me, getting me the jobs that I want with the salary worth working for.

What I have gotten out of my college experience is that organizing my schedule wisely is a very important task to do in college. Organizing my schedule wisely in college is very valuable to me to attend college is because, the time in college is very limited. There are lots of things to do, such as attending meetings, going to classes, studying for tests, and going to work. Organizing my schedule is a very helpful way to help me suceed in college. It lets me see what things i need to do first and making sure that I actually do it. It also makes me stay on task so that way I don't mess up or forget about something. Organizing my schedule can help me prevent procrastinating and get things done on time. Getting things done on time can allow me to have more free time to myself or get other things done earlier. Organizing my schedule has helped me stay on top of my priorities and making sure that I get things done on time.

My college is unique in that when done right it does allow a lot of liberty for a person do what they want. There are some programs that do try to support students who may not have such a conventional view of their college experience and/or future. In this respect, I am very lucky to attend my college because I am the type of person who likes to have things done my way and to combine many different interests. I have also learned about bureaucracy and how things should be priorities often aren't and many types what is right is not what is done. But because of this I have learned to accept certain things that one is unable to change, but also I have learned when I have had enough and when change must be enforced. This, I find to be a very valuable lesson for one to learn for their future.

Christine

The best things I got were more experience with myself and interacting with others. I did get the chance to intern with a person who is doing what I hope to some day do. Other than that I learned how complex and difficult atending a college can be. There is so much to know and understand and if you are unaware of certain things then it is shame on the student for screwing up regardless of the matter. The tuition is rising and the classrooms are getting larger and interactions with the professors are few and far between. Times are rough right now and the way this college is structured can either shock a student to distruction or be a very miserable and costly experience. I now have a touhger skin and always read the fine print and look for the forest through the trees before I take the word of a campus employee. I really learned how to be on my own at this campus.

Martha

I have been challenged to think in new ways and to push myself beyond what I believed I could do. I have learned to trust myself. Now I know I can do things that before seemed impossible. I have discovered strengths that I didn't know I had previously, and have learned to work within my weaknesses. I am proud of what I have accomplished, and look forward to continuously learning throughout my life.

Brittny

I've learned a lot in the classes I took this semester, and I'm definitely happy about that. Also, the class I took to advance my career field helped prepare me for my future.

Kaitlyn

I have encountered good professors who do truly care about each student. I am thankful for the small class sizes providing the optimum learning environment for me. Tulsa Community College offers a wide, seemingly endless range of courses to its students, as well as discounted prices to events, movies, and museums around the community, and a state of the art fitness center with convenient hours. I also benefit from the large and resourceful library loaded with qualified staff. I have had wonderful opportunities to explore fields of work through my college. I am looking forward to moving on to the Unversity of Oklahoma to continue my education and fulfill my dreams of becomng on the the nations nurses educated from one of the best and most competitive programs in the United States. I hope you can help make my dreams come true by assisting me with the cost of this outstanding institution. Thank you.

Jessica

I truly feel that so far my college experience has enabled me to grow as an individual. I have become more confident, ambitious, and I continuously challenge myself to do better in anything that I am doing. Friends I've made inspire me to do my best, never give up, be grateful for what I have, enjoy life, and just be the best person I can possibly be at all times. I have come to understand the true meaning of sisterhood and giving back to the community through joining Delta Delta Delta and becoming a part of Greek Life. From my art classes, I feel I have expanded outside of my comfort zone and become more creative as an artist, which is something I will carry with me forever especially throughout my career. This University has been so valuable for me to attend because it constantly pushes me to strive and do better. I have learned valuable skills, techniques and work habits that will help me become successful and happy when I begin my career. I am confident I will be ready to take on life's challenges from this new growth that I have had from this college experience.

Meenakshi

I have learned that college teaches you lessons for survival in every day life. The world is full of people from all walks of life. Everybody will hurt you, but you just have to find the ones worth suffering for.

Rebecca

I have gotten may experiences from the short time I have attended college. College has really opened my eyes and gave me a new insight from education to people. I've met a lot of new people and great friends at my school. I've also realized what the future will be like. College has given me a sense of independence and a reality check. Since I live away from my parents, it has showed me somewhat, what I am preparing for. Its taught me not to judge someone or something right away, but to give them or it time and really see if I am interested. I've been very grateful to be able to attend a big, prestigious university such as my school. I have certain career coals that I am determined to accomplish and by attending my school, there is no doubt about it that I will fullfill those goals and dreams of mine. The education I am getting, some people can only dream of, and since I have the actual chance to receive this education, it's the first step I am taking to better not only my life but my family's as well.

Rejoining the path towards a higher education after serving four years in the U.S. Marines has shown me that dedication and hard work do infact pay off. Attending seventeen hours worth of classes last semester and working thirty plus hours a week at a laboratory has been extremely difficult however properly scheduling my time and efforts towards my main goal has helped me achieve my self prescribed GPA. The university is delivering a challenging but exciting experience that helps me pursue realistic and attainable goals such as attending graduate school. This experience, not unlike anything worth achieving, poses stressful situations that can be overcome. This continually strengthens my confidence in the acadmic world as well as the social world; it empowers me to seek other challenges and surpass expectations along the way. Without my college experience, I would undoubtedly find a meger job and be satisfied with simply getting by. I am ever greatful for the opportunities to learn and socialize at my university and I enthusiastically encourage others in similar positions to pursue college and higher education.

Christina

I've gotten the opportunity to extend myself beyond academics. As someone who spent much of high school studying for exams, it was a change to be involved in clubs and work in a lab so soon. UA definitely helped me to extend myself and learn more about my identity through the number of extracurriculars and research opportunities. While other schools may have better academics (and I won't lie and say that's UA's strong suit), I doubt any of them have better opportunities for science majors like me.

Rebecca

I began college knowing that I wanted to be a designer. Four years later, I now know four languages, can differentiate an extraneous variable from a confounding variable, and know more about real estate investing and mortgages than I would ever care to know, but that fact remains the same. I still want to be a designer. When I started school, I wasn’t comfortable with that choice; I felt that I had to choose a major that appeased my parents and impressed my friends. So I tried everything, from Environmental Science to Accounting; nothing inspired me like design.Ultimately, I decided to follow my passion. College allowed me to try out many different options, but most importantly it gave me the confidence I needed to pursue my true dreams. Despite my initial insecurities and stereotypes about what career fields were valuable, through my education I’ve come to believe that design truly can yield positive changes in society, something that I would have never imagined before college. I believe that good design can be revolutionary and move us closer to a sustainable world. That’s something I want to be a part of.

The most valuable experience from college is living away from home while attending school. Everything must be time managed if you want to do stuff. There is no one to clean up after me so everything is self dependent and great experience.

Ashton

The college experience is, as is always said, what you put into it. As with everything in life, there are things which I loved, wish I could have done differently, etc. Overall, I have and continue to enjoy my college experience at the University of Arizona. Even though it was not my first choice, I have made great friends, had good experiences, learned new things, met new people, and grown as a person.

Ashley

I have met some great friends and have been very involved. I am going to take away the great skills and knowledge I learned and some of the best friends I could have ever asked for. I have learned more of an appreciation for football and basketball, and of course how to tailgate. hahaha In the partying aspect, well I have learned how to throw a fantastic themed party. I will be graduating with a degree in a very high demanding field, physiology, and if I can graduate and still have fun doing it then everyone else can do it too. Being at the UA I have found myself and where I belong in the world. That was a huge struggle I needed to overcome. Moving away from home and being in Arizona has taught me that and responsibility.

Stacy

I have learned to work with others. When you are given a group project, you need to decide who you will work with (if that option is available) and learn to collaberate. I really am an independent worker, so to work with groups was hard at first for me. I will be a teacher when I graduate, so this experiece was not only necessary but welcomed. I needed to learn to work with others and this was a great way to learn. The University of Arizona is an awesome school that made me feel welcome from the first time I walked on campus. I am a non-traditional student and have had issues in my life that provented me from attending school with out stopping, but each time I was able to come back, they welcomed me and supported me.

When I was a junior in high school, I started to take college courses under a program called Running Start. I finished all my high school credits in one year, and decided to pursue an Associates of Arts degree. I knew I wanted to transfer to the University of Washington once I finished and major in Biology. Since I attended college so much earlier than my peers, I learned and got more out of schooling and life than just going to high school. I have been able to learn new things without help, and also get the one on one help I have always wanted. I became more independent in my education by choosing my own major and knowing what was valuable to me. Being able to attend a community college and only being a junior in high school showed me that it was a valuable choice for me to put education first and try my hardest to graduate one year earlier from a university than my peers. Going to college was also very valuable to attend during high school becasue it helped ease the financial pressure. I wouldn't have to pay for tuition or fees just books.

Alexis

My college experience so far has been irreplaceable. I have been presented with so many opportunities to experience the world and push myself outside of my comfort zone. My classes have been great, yes, but the university environment is the true reason that I have grown so much in the past year and a half. Because of my decision to go to college, I have had the opportunity to visit Greece, spend a summer in Peru, learn two foreign languages, and make friends with people from every continent except Australia and Antarctica! If I had never gone to college, I would never have been presented with these life-changing opportunities. The value of my college experience is impossible to calculate because my experience so far has been absolutely priceless. I can't wait to see what the next few years have in store for me!

When I started this masters program, in my late 40’s, I was so excited to become the best teacher I could possibly be. Working with at –risk youth is what gave me the strength to begin my Master Degree in Secondary Education. I graduated from The University of Arizona in the fall of 1985. After twenty years of being a mother plus experiencing a very difficult economy. I started working in a charter school. It was then that I fell in love with teaching at-risk students. This is a field I love, and I know I am very good at what I do. The present situation in the education field gives me much uncertainty. I hope that I can provide my students with the best education possible given such limited resources. But the best resource of all, caring, I have it; and money cannot buy it. The current economic situation will not stop me from doing what I do best, helping teens in need of someone to care for them. I hope I can be awarded this scholarship. It would help me continue my education. I also, have two daughters going to college. I need help.

College is an awkward time for many people. Most of us are just out of high school, suddenly on our own, learning to be adults, discovering what it means to be truly responsible. I, like most freshmen, spent my first year up all night and avoiding laundry. Over time though, like most students, I hit my stride, proving the trial and error method can be successful. Now as a junior and a neuroscience major, I am grateful to my parents and my (very patient) academic advisor, for their support and advice. I think this is the greatest gift college has given me: the time and ability to explore, to learn who I am and to begin to interact with my environment as an adult. College is the time when I can appreciate my own strengths, not those of my parents or (someday) of my husband and children. Though other experiences are certainly valuable, whether it is work, care taking, or travel, college has given me practice being myself. This singular experience means I am stronger and happier in everything I do, knowing I am being true to me.

One of the most valuable things that I have learned so far in my college experience is the importance of being able to work in a team environment. The world we live in is always filled with obstacles that require a team effort to overcome. Through teamwork I have gained the ability to give and receive correction. Receiving correction is a way of life for me because it not only leads me on the right path, but it also means that I will have the necessary information to get it right the next time. Learning to function and overcome as a team has been an invaluable experience for me in college. Attending college has also been valuable to me because it has taught me to be accountable and to maintain consistent character qualities of endurance and diligence. I have learned that in order to be successful in college I must stay ahead of all my classes and devote serious study time each and every week. Most importantly, I believe the skills and character qualities that attending college has taught me will enable me to be successful in both my workplace and household after I graduate.

By attending college, I know that I already have made my future, brighter. I am currently majoring in pre-physiology, and hope to attend medical school as a graduate. My dream is to provide medical opportunities to less fortunate individuals in other countries outside of the U.S. at no cost. The only way I can achieve this dream, is by going to college! It has been valuable to attend college, because it has taught me to become independent and successful. After applying to college, attending an out-of-state college hundreds of miles away from my home and parents, and depending on myself for everything including keeping my grades up, going to class, finding my way around the campus and surrounding town, finding volunteer opportunities, and many other things, I have already taken many steps to becoming an adult. Without being on my own and attending college, I would not have the necessary experiences needed in order to grow up and become an independent adult. College has taught me so many lessons in life that I could not have experienced anywhere else!

Having the opportunity to attend university is something I am very thankful for, and it is not something that everyone has the chance to do. Being from a lower-income family, and seeing life from the viewpoint of the neighborhood in north Philadelphia has brought me to realize not only that college might be a way beyond that position in life, but that it is a way to someday help others to have the opportunities that I have had. As my studies involve the history of art, with a focus on religious architecture of the Renaissance, attending university has also allowed me to connect my intellect with my faith. As an undergraduate, I even had the chance to visit Rome, and to behold the Renaissance first-hand. This was a truly life changing experience. Most of all, I think that attending university has taught me perseverance. As someone who struggled greatly through many years of schooling, I now hold a 4.0 in my major, and dream of attending MIT to complete my PhD in architectural theory. To attend university is a great gift, and I only wish to enrich the world with the knowledge that I have gained.

I didn't know what to expect going into college. The first semester was rough on me but i am dedicated and I know i will graduate. Now that i have a semseter of experience under my belt i aim to never get a C again. I go to college because i want to get a good job. A good job isn't one that pays well but something that i enjoy doing, good pay is a bonus. I want to by my mom a house she deserves it. College will be the tool i use to achieve those goals

Shawn

College truly is a place where people go through new experiences and encounter different personalities. I would say that my college experience has incorporated all of that. I have met people from different walks of life that I would never have met in different circumstances. I have made what I hope are life long friends with people who grew up with completely different goals, beliefs, and ideals. I have learned from college that success is all about a strong work ethic. Intelligence in a person is wasted when there is not a positive work ethic to supplement it.College has been extremely valuable to me as I move forward in my life. I understand that college will ultimately help with financial success, but true success in life is measured in experiences. College is a time that I should be able to look back on when I am older and smile at all the people and experiences I had. To me I place the most amount of value in the friendships that I make, and college has thus far provided me with a strong group of friends.

The University of Arizona has provided me with a safe learning zone where I feel motivated, challenged and accepted. The diverse clubs and organizations have helped me find my niche within a larger community. The staff and professors are in a league of their own, and their talent has pushed me toward academic success. With relatable advisors, I have chosen a major that I know will benefit me when it comes to selecting a job that I will love. This school has made a lasting impression on me, and I am grateful for the many opportunities I have been rewarded simply by being a Wildcat. Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!

Nathanaelle

What i got out of my college experience was being able to learn about myself as an indvidual and on what I want to do with my life. IBefore attend the University of Arizona, I was this shy little girl who stayed in her dorm room went class and did not so much talking but now I am able to step out of the box and was able to express myself in many different ways. Attending University of Arizona allowed me to find my future as well, I had chosen a major that I was not in love with at all, until I was able to use the resources that the school provide for me to find a major that I know that I will be happy with. As well attending this school allowed me to find great friend, there wouldn't be an experience with out them because there are the ones that will be with you as always. They tend to stay friends with you after you graduate college then the ones you graduated high school with. With out my friends I wouldnt be the girl that I am now.

Anelly

I have got more hands on experience with the program i'm intrested in and I value it becuase it makes me a better MA and it is giving me the chance for a better future for me and my family. It is a good experience because I learned alot with the people that are around me and the professors and experienced and know what they are doing.

Marissa

I have learned so many things in my college experience. Living on my own especially has been the best lesson I have learned. Knowing that I need to do my school work, study, and attend class by myself in addition to budgeting my money has truly been the most valuable lesson I have learned. Furthermore, I have been able to take a variety of classes with teachers who are experts in their fields in a large class which allows me to interact with many different people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, exposing me to a group that paralells the real world. Ultimatly the main lessons that I have learned from college are not necessarily academic, even though I have learned a great deal from the curriculum of my classes, but the overall interactions with the general student body as well as living on my own, as I grow to be my own individual.

Adena

My college experience has been an absolute roller coaster at best. My freshman year was spent fully engrossed in my sorority and my friends, and not much else. My sophomore year was tougher: I became unhappy and depressed, and ultimately decided to remove myself from that situation and I went home to California for the spring semester of that year. When I came back, I had a brand new sense of purpose and focus on my academic career in Retailing and Consumer Sciences. I took advantage of all the opportunities the Retailing program offered me, and I, a girl who always sat in the back and kept to myself, decided to apply to be a Student Ambassador for the Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing's Student Advisory Board. This incredible position paired me with Corporate Advisory Board partners and gave me great exposure to the professional Retailing industry. This year, I have been elected Vice Chair of the Board, attended the Global Retailing conference, and spent my summer in downtown Chicago as an intern for The Store at WPP. This school and this program have so much to offer, and I am so fortunate!

Robert

If college has tought me anything its that its extremely hard to transition from a once full time worker to a part time student without a job. These days money makes the world go round and if you are broke you arent going to get very far. Its hard enough trying to find a job but when you have to pay for books and classes you end up in debt. Im sure i can speak for everyone when i say that being in debt sucks. College is very important these days and having an education is what gets you a job.

I am currently attending Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. As a freshman, my experiences are few but very beneficial. First off, they offer a program that allows incoming high school graduates priority registration. This is so important due to the fact that it is so hard to get classes with the recession, nonetheless as a freshman! I was able to pick the perfect schedule before my older friends with more seniority. Another thing that I love is the pre-nursing program. It links your classes and allows you to complete prerequisites within a year. If you try this anywhere else, you could be waiting years just to get a few of these classes. Also, there are so many events going on at campus that it’s easy to become a part of the school. The campus is near stores, housing, and beautiful mountains. The counselors have proven more than helpful and truly want you to succeed. With all of these benefits, I am far ahead of my peers that are currently attending other local schools. I am on schedule to graduate from the nursing program years before my peers and am able to enjoy the university-like environment.

Ariel

Easily the best thing that I have gotten out of my experience so far has been my greater independence. After moving out of the house and into the dorm I feel like I can really take care of myself and make decisions on my own. The freedom, and challenges, that comes with college life have really helped me to mature and grow as a person. There are so many opportunities in college to experiment and gain a deeper understanding of yourself, I am planning to study abroad next year which is a dream of mine. It is an opportunity that I would never have if I was not going to college.

Karen

Before attending college, I worked a few jobs as an administrative assistant. My work ethics and skills always led me to the top, but because I did not have a college degree or even some college education my opportunities were limited. Had I not taken a financial risk to further my education, I would never grow professionally. Attending college has been life changing for me. Now that I have transferred to the University of Arizona, my opportunities are infinite. I am able to connect with professionals in my career field. I also have more confidence about the future of my career. In the end, my education will benefit my life and my family to come. A college education is something no one can take away from you. The amount of professional skills gained during college cannot be taken for granted. When I graduate, not only will I have overcome a personal challenge, but I will have an education that will last a life time. The value of my college education is priceless.

Leah

College is like a spiritual journey. I was lucky enough to enroll in courses that became life changing. In a religion studies course (Love in World Religions), my professor emphasized the relationship between higher education and volunteerism – how the two go hand-in-hand. The true goal of post-secondary education is to not find a job and make money, but rather to use the information I learned and resources I acquired to help others. The more I learn, the more capable I am as a volunteer. No matter race and region, all religions have the same core concept – to help those who are incapable of helping themselves, to have compassion, and to be selfless. This idea stuck like glue and has completely changed the way I view college education. My major in psychology further emphasized the relationship between volunteerism and education. We innately are social creatures. If I can learn more about how we can successfully interact and communicate with others, the more I can use it to my advantage in my volunteer activities. This lesson I have learned is one that I will value for life.

Jennifer

I have gained a sense of self. When I first started college I was thinking how much the classes were just like my high school, yet I sat in my room after class and watched TV. It wasn't until the second semester that I started working in a lab, this gave me the opportunity to take charge of my path and to really get into the academics a lot more than I originally started with. This led me to challenge myself and to really understand what psychology is about. I know now what I want; it is a Ph.D. in cognitive neuropsychology. Knowing what I need to work towards put me on the fast track to graduation. I know that when I am in graduate school I can begin the research I will hopefully be working on for the rest of my career. It is amazing to think that this all happened when one lab decided to let a freshman work for them. I now have taken a step towards being fully independent; I plan on actually studying abroad next fall in Asia, Australia, or Europe. My options are now endless and I love that feeling.

Brittany

I have learned how to live on my own away from parents, and how to be a responsible person. Those two things alone make it valuable to attend my university. University is a stepping stone into the real world, and it gradually lets you know what being on your own is like, without being overwhelmed.

Kathryn

My college experience has helped me grow up into the independent person I am today. I came into college thinking I knew who I was, but didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. However, throughout my college years the person I was and the person I am today are two completely different people. I am now a much more independent person and am more tolerable of people who partook in activities I considered bad/immoral. By attending college and being away from my family I have learned of different walks of life and am a much more confident person. I, however, am still making many mistakes along the way, but I now know that these mistakes are continuously shaping me into the person I will be proud of being. I have a clear goal of what I want my life to look like in the future and I know the steps I need to take to reach my goals. If it wasn't for my very positive college experience, I'm sure I would still be lost and confused, walking aimlessly through life without a purpose or goal. For that I am grateful.

Kristen

It's a great experience. Even if it's a community college, i think everyone should go to a community college first and experience how it's like. And then transfer to a university, so we can experience how it's like to attend a university. Everything I did and will do at my college is an experience on life. When I grow up and look back I don't want to regret that I went to a community college because it's what made me get to where I will be and that I'd look back and thank everyone that was with me. It's valuable to attend my college because every step counts. I'd rather go to school than no school at all and throw my life away.

Kevin

I've gained friends, knowledge and experiences in my time at university, that I most likely would not have had if I had not gone. This sounds simple enough, but I value these life experiences very much and know that I will gain very much from my time in school.

Juan

As a college student I have learned many things that have helped me shape my knowledge and culture. I have realized that getting a degree from a University is vital to have a higher standard of living. I have learned that in life an education can help me become a well-rounded person, and more importantly I have realized that every minute I am in college is a step closer to a better life and also a step closer to being able to become the first one in my family to get a college degree. By graduating from college I will be able to fulfill my dreams and help my community, without which I would most likely not be in college. Every minute, every second is worth being at the University of Arizona.

Zachery

Well to start off I think it is valuable to attend college because it would be extremely hard to obtain a job, and even more a career, without a college degree. I have gotten several things out of my first two years of college. For instance by taking test I have learned you need to study and be prepared for anything in your career. Also to never give up and work hard. If you start out slow and with bad grades you can work harder and bring those grades up by the end of the semester. But most importantly I have learned that it is not all about working hard. You can not get too caught up in your career or grades that you do not take time for yourself and do things you love to do. So it really is all about balance. Well that is just a few things I have learned my first two years of college and I am excited to see what I will learn the rest of the time I am in college.

Katy

I recently started back to school on a whim with obtain a college education as my only goal. As a new student I was required to take a Success in College and Life course. I didn’t think I needed this course since I have college experience, I am 35 years old, married and have three children. However, it is required so I signed up for the course. I was surprised to learn valuable information that will help me study and how to organize my busy life with school. The course also provided resources that I will be able to use throughout my college years. It also lead me down the path to choose a major in Art/Graphic Design and Spanish. This experience has taught me that no matter how I feel about a certain course I will surely find value in it if I go in with an open mind and I am willing to learn.

Lisa

I've grown wiser and more balanced as a person. I have a greater appreciation for the value of school, the value of hard work, and being a positive role model for my son. I believe I am fostering a love of education and self progress that he will carry for the rest of his life.

Aimee

Out of my college experience I have become a more confident person along with stepping up and taking leadership roles. I have been provided a lot of opportunities on and off campus to show my leadership abilitites. It has been very valuable to attend because it had provided me experiences that I wouldn't have been able to experience other places. I also have met many great professors and faculty that have made me love my major more then I ever expected.

Darian

My college experience has given me many life lessons. Yes, I have grown as a future educator. Yes, I have learned a lot of useful information and gained many valuable tools for my future career. However, I have learned more about life and the people in it than anything else in my time spent at the University of Arizona. I have furthered my journey of self-discovery and learned many things about my self as an independent adult. Many of these life skills will help me with things such as, finding a job in the real world, building strong relationships with my colleagues and and supervisor, creating useful connection and giving back to the people that need assistance. When I graduate from this institution I will not be the person I am now, nor will I be the person I am in twenty years. But, I have a greater understanding of who I want to become and how to benefit the world around me as that person.

I have been allowed the oportunity to gain a stronger understanding on the nursing career I would like to persue. Attending school is important to me because when I finish, I will have the skills necessary to succeed. It will also allow mine and my daughter's life to be better. She will be allowed more experiences in life because I went to school.

During my college experiences, I have learned to handle what life throughs at you. My courses are excellent in preparing me for on the job problem solving, as well as being able to handle different people in the workforce. The Univeristy provides a diverse group to learn from and interact with. I have learned that in life, what you expect is not always what happens, and you have to be able to roll with the punches. It has been very valuable academically as well. My Business courses are in depth, and very rounded in all business aspects. Professors provide access to professionals in the field, as well as real world cases to analyze and solve. I feel my education here has been the best that it can be.
