Virginia Tech is honestly a great school. I do not regret coming her at all. I've gotten myself into so many organization and extra curricular activities that I love so much and has led me to meeting some of the best people. I have met so many amazing people at Tech and they have made my experiences here the best. With every school comes their cons, and one is that Virginia Tech is not as diverse as I would like it to be. I do see efforts of the administrators implementing diversity programs and accepting more minorities and people of color.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Because Virginia Tech is such a large school, there are niches for everyone. Finding a place at Tech can be taxing in the beginning but as you find your way, you find that the school feels smaller, more intimate, and attuned to your needs. I do think that VT could be more politically active, but being in a rural area tends to separate us from the intensity of current events. However, Tech's location doesn't hinder the breadth of VT's school spirit, which can be felt in its dedicated alumnus and the immediate sense of kin we feel when meeting fellow hokies. We hold doors open for each other, and won't hesitate to help a hokie out. The food selection is great, but with great food comes higher prices. To save money I like to bring my lunches from home. Additionally, I live off campus (it is hard to find on campus housing past freshman year) and I either bus or bike to class. Both methods of transport are convenient and practical, the bus system is moderately reliable and very accessible. In my time here I have gotten involved with a number if different sports clubs, organizations, and local groups. Overall, your experience at Virginia Tech is what you make of it. If you put in the effort, you will reap the benefits. No hokie has the same experience, and that's the way it should be.

Virginia Tech is known for their motto "Ut Prosim" meaning That I May Serve. I have been at Virginia Tech for only a year but I have seen the University as a whole embrace that motto and use it in everything they do, including serving the Hokie and Blacksburg community and communities all over the world . When I first was applying to Virginia Tech, I was unsure whether I would fit in. I did not understand what a "Hokie " was. However, when I first stepped foot on the campus, I realized being a Hokie was not just a term that applied to students attending Virginia Tech. I noticed that being a Hokie was to embrace Ut Prosim and use that motto to drive everything you do for a greater purpose. Not only is the culture unique, the resources the university provides have proven to be incredibly resourceful. Virginia Tech has several programs that ensure the success of every single student. They have resources such as free tutoring services, Services for Students with Disabilities Department (SSD), substance abuse care programs, Cook Counseling Center, etc. I am a student who has a learning disability and the SSD department was a great help for getting me the help I needed to ensure I was able to have the same opportunities as the other students. Virginia Tech has become my second home and I truly believe it is an extraordinary university. GO HOKIES!!!

I love the campus atmosphere at Virginia Tech. Everyone is included and there are so many ways to get involved in campus activities. Also, the food is AMAZING! Many people love to live up to Ut Prosim, that I may serve. It feels like you are apart of one big family. Once a Hokie, always a Hokie!

This school is an amazing school for those who want to pursue a degree for Engineering. They have a friendly atmosphere, beautiful sites, and a very ambitious academic drive. There are so many opportunities to achieve, activities to participate, and memories to have. This is truly "a home away from home."

As someone from Nova, I had heard about Tech my whole life, but being a first gen college student I did not know much about it other than the name. I had originally wanted to go out of state, but due to money, I stayed in Virginia, and going to Tech has been one of the best decisions, if not the best decision I have made in my entire life. It has exceeded my expectations for college, and I know is preparing me for life after, as almost everyone I know is employed after graduation.

Virginia Tech is overall a great school. Whether you are in to sports or are into reading a good book there is something for everyone at the school. The school is diverse enough to find a comfort place if you’re part of a minority group. The food is some of the best you can get (don’t tell my mom I said that). You can’t go wrong with attending Virginia Tech.

My three years at Virginia Tech were among the best of my life thus far. From the food, the campus, the football, and the overall culture, Virginia Tech will always be home. In addition to the wonderful three years on campus, my experience with the alumni community has been outstanding. I have lived in several states since graduation and have always found a Hokie community to be involved in. Go Hokies!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

This school has always given me a great positive opinion about it. Especially after being there and finding myself in the middle of so many opportunities. With the amount of organizations on campus there is a place where everyone can belong. The experience here has even exposed me to new things I would never have found on my own that I now love doing.
