What is your overall opinion of this school?

The college is very populated, only Freshman are guaranteed housing. so that is a little difficult to handle since most off campus housing is more expensive. Very challenging courses, with highly educated professors. One weather phenomena is that is seems to be wet, cold, and rainy often. The campus gets muddy when riding a bike to all classes, which is a necessity.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Virginia Tech as a whole is a pretty amazing college. There are tons of great people, many classes to choose from, and the food is outstanding. However there are a few things that are not so great. 1. On campus housing is nearly impossible after freshman year. 2. It can be very difficult to get in classes that you need because of limited times and spaces available. 3. Tech is very stingy with handing out scholarships.

Virginia Tech truly lives up to the catchphrase "This is Home." When I was searching for a college I didn't feel the need to go visit, because I had my heart set on another school entirely. When I went to visit however, I was blown away by how wonderful the school was. The people were friendly, the food was amazing, and campus was absolutely gorgeous even in the rain! The second I got my acceptance letter I knew where I was going. When I arrived on campus in the fall I fell even more in love with the school. My hall-mates were friendly and engaging, and the coordinator for my Living Learning Community made us all right at home, right away. There were many opportunities to get involved with campus before classes even started, including a comedy show the first night on campus. Once classes started I was even more sure I had made the right choice. Even in my largest classes my professors took the time to make their student feel welcome, and I developed relationships with the people who would be educating me quickly. My advisor is incredibly helpful, and always responds to my emails in a timely manner, I feel like I can ask her anything about the school and she'll have a way to help me out. The professors I worked with all were passionate about their subjects, and it showed in their teaching. When it came to course load the work was rigorous, but not terrible. I learned a lot, but always had time to spend with my friends. Blacksburg itself is amazing as well. There's always something going on, whether it's on or off campus. From on campus shows only being $10 for students, to the local art house movie theatre showing films for $5 a ticket, you don't have to look far to find entertainment. My friends and I played a lot of frisbee, went to the movies almost every week, and walked campus whenever we got the chance, just to enjoy the weather and beautiful surroundings. We attended the weekly farmers market often, and always stopped by the vintage market to get some fun accessories or old magazines. Blacksburg truly has everything all in one place. I love my school and can't wait to go back for my sophomore year. The small school feel combined with the giant campus and opportunities that provides are invaluable and I wouldn't trade them for anything. Tech's academics are amazing, the sports are fantastic, the culture is super friendly and truly revolves around Ut Prosim. We have the happiest students in the nation, and the fittest campus, and being top ranked in food doesn't hurt either. If you're considering Virginia Tech, come down to Blacksburg and see what we're all about for yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed, and will be calling it home soon enough yourself.

I love the campus lifestyle and ambiance of fellowship here at Virginia Tech. The architecture of all the building resemble castles to me and the people who inhabit said buildings are all friendly and helpful. The center piece of the campus is the drill field which acts as the bridge that connects the academic side to the residence side that both inhabit great dinning areas and other purposeful buildings. As multiple people inhabit this college student interaction is a focal point and is accompanied by the school motto, Ut Prosim, which assists the fellowship on the campus. This being said, there is numerous opportunities in terms of networking and gaining connections. On another note, the food here is great and is only bested by the academic opportunity here at Virginia Tech. The engineering program here is truly outstanding and pushes the students to over come obstacles and further develops the students character. Furthermore, the numerous clubs and organizations that one can get involved in is outstanding and I truly love it here. I wouldn't trade this for the world and I give this institution a 5 star. All of these great things about the institution previously stated, blend together in bless harmony to from a great college experience. Lastly, I do want to point out that besides the student the alumni and professors here also have a same friendly approach to them and are always there to help those who need it. whether through email or personal meetings help is always available for those who want it.

VT is a great school to receive an education from. Plenty of things to see and do. But it also has tough academic classes that you need to stay on top of or you will not do well here. Lots of opportunities to learn, grow and experience things. The dorms are okay, but it wasn't a priority for me to have the best one. The food selection is To Die For!! Plenty of places to choose from and a variety of menus too. So - come to Tech. You wont regret it!

Virginia Tech is a great school. For anyone thinking about applying or attending, it's a great school with lots of opportunities to learn and grow as a person. Most people focus on academics and VT is not a huge party-school and if you put in the work, you can have a fun time in a great environment.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Virginia Tech is not a bad state university overall. The campus is very large, and one can easily get lost because of the lack of well-placed directional signs. However, besides this small flaw, Virginia Tech is a good university. Virginia Tech is very well known for its top-rate engineering programs, and the School of Engineering is very competitive. What probably struck me as the best thing about Virginia Tech was its motto: "Ut Prosim" (That I May Serve). It really speaks to the attitude of everyone on campus, as everyone I met was very nice.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Virginia Tech is an excellent academic university, especially in terms of engineering. It is located in the mountainous regions of Virginia which provide fresh air that cant be found in any city or suburb. There are plenty of outdoor activities that are completely safe such as, hiking, camping, canoeing, rock climbing, fishing, and many more. The breath taking view from hiking trails are indescribable and the constant view of the mountains from anywhere in Blacksburg is amazing.

From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew that I would attend this school. For years I have heard about Virginia Tech from my neighbors and family friends, but I was unaware of the imprint that it would have on me. The architecture is beyond amazing with their "Hokie Stone" specifically found in Virginia. The history and reputation of the school is amazing and keeps climbing as their academic programs continue to thrive each year. Not to mention that they have amazing athletics that all student are engulfed in. I am proud to say that I am going to be a Hokie.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Virginia Tech is an overall diverse, enriching community that allows students to get out of their comfort zone and dive into new opportunity. While it can seem intimidating at first since it is so vast, it has exposed myself and other students to experiences we might not otherwise receive. The academic side, especially the Animal Science program, is exceptional. They offer high-quality courses that have challenged me with lessons that far exceed the classroom.
