Administration is absolutely pathetic. Workers, many professors, and staff need to drop the ghetto attitude and actually help and advise students, not get a laugh out of seeing them needlessly struggle. The excellent professors are here but you just have to find them and will be glad you did. Yet, if you want to be in a ghetto hellish nightmare, HU is the place. Update the facilities and housing and the school will be on par with other campuses. Advising center is hypocritical; trying to be savvy now when, in my freshman year, it felt like an impossible task to even schedule an appt, much less hear something helpful. As far as the students...I’m sorry to have had the misfortune of being in the same graduating class as such close-minded idiots and the most mentally lazy/inept/hateful “scholars” I have ever met. No class, uncultured swine, annoying as h***, and overall juvenile losers with no lives or true futures. Be prepared to meet delusional Nigerians and other mentally retarded Africans who are under the amusing delusion that they’re actually going to be true “engineers,” “lawyers,” and “doctors” yet cheat (they like to call it “finessing”) their way through classes or study all night for exams that mirror 60-70% of previous ones, lol. Milk the school and experiences for all they’re worth then get out; or do yourself a favor and transfer early. So over it and on to better things. Thank God I didn’t pay a dime for tuition. As they like to say, “ISSA trap!”

Overall, Howard University is a pretty good school and like any other school it has its positives and negatives, but there isn't any other school I'd rather attend. There are so many opportunities and many notable alumni available for contact, you're almost guaranteed a job/internship outside of here.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Howard University, the renown HU is a campus full of opportunity and excellence. In spite the difficulties getting in contact with certain facilities and below-standard on-campus dining and freshman housing, the university is essentially great. Professors value student success and do all they can to ensure no one is left behind. Being originally from a smaller town, the bigger city scene is incredible but can be overwhelming at times, so it is definitely beneficial having nice people on-campus to go places with you or instruct you on how to get from point A to point B. All in all, academically, I think Howard University does an excellent job at keeping students busy and giving them opportunities for success in whatever career field they may be pursuing, even freshman. Socially, the school is filled to the brim with a plethora of cultures, people from all walks of life. This is part of what makes the university so great, the diversity. Our differences, I believe are what bring us together as students and help us to make connections/learn more about different cultures. Howard University is ultimately a great school where there is always room for personal success so long as you stay focused.

Howard University has so many opportunities. I believe that the foundation that Howard creates for its students allows them to tackle any challenge or issue. In addition to that, Howard develops many successful and ambitious people. Not only does well-rounded business students graduate from Howard University, but well rounded affluent individuals in all fields such as the Arts, the Sciences, Engineering, Nursing, Communications, etc. The facilities are a little dated but, still get the job done. The school is in the city so there are millions of things to do, you will never be bored. You meet all kinds of people from all over the world and are exposed to so many different cultures. I really love my HU!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

My overall opinion of Howard University is that it is need of a lot of improvement, in terms of infrastructure, organization, and maintaining an environment in which everyone feels as though they have a place on campus. However that's not what makes it a great school. What makes it great are the people that you meet, who have a differing point of views from various backgrounds. It's the staff, that work dutifully every day to make sure you get what you need, in terms of nutrition, and aid. Most importantly, it's the teachers, who even in a class of 150 students, can capture your attention, and make sure you leave with new information. So yeah, Howard University has a lot of work to do, but in where it counts, it's excelling.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Take as many courses as possible in the first three years and really apply all of your energy in those years because you'll be at your sharpest, so that senior year can be a breeze. As a senior, I'm taking an overload of courses while my friends are taking the bare minimum and breezing through senior year.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I love it! Its a very social and ethnically diverse school that provides plenty of opportunity to get to experience many aspects of life outside of school and in other cultures. Howard has a personality that has been preserved for many years giving students a confidence and helping them understand themselves.

I have a "love/hate" relationship with Howard University. There is definitely some people who are super involved and love everything about Howard and for the rest of us, we're just trying to graduate. Howard administration makes it hard for students to continue because they often don't have answers to the questions we have. If you are provided with answers, it may or may not be accurate. Howard has been known to have some money issues but they are trying to keep the school in it's best condition. There is construction on one of the upperclassmen dorms and the cafeteria. However, the construction is causing a strain on the students because there isn't enough on campus housing for everyone. With the new construction on the cafeteria, that means there will only be one main cafeteria for the whole student body. Food at Howard is subpar but there are good days. I've had my fair share of poor teachers but I have met some really dedicated teachers. The dedicated teachers really outweigh the bad. You can usually find the more dedicated teachers in your major classes. The majority of the Howard student body is active in at least one club and organization. There is always new clubs popping up and it is popular to create a club if there isn't one you are looking for. The school does have visitation policies but they are becoming more modern with it. This past year we updated the policy to be 24-hours with a student ID.

A school where everyone is accepted as family and there is an over all sense of togetherness. It is a school where people will meet life long friends along with having one of the most college unique experiences. Also, it is in a great location-- D.C. The world is your oyster!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I love my school, while there are a lot of improvements that need to be made, especially within the administration and the facilities on campus (ex. bad customer service-especially over the phone haha, and less than satisfactory dorms at times- water damage, roaches and rats, mold etc. etc.), I love the Howard experience.
