What kind of person should attend this school?

Lehigh is the perfect school for someone who wants to excel in a highly technical field, like engineering, but who also wants to develop the social skill necessary to thrive upon graduation. Lehigh provides a well-rounded education that prepares students not just to get a job, but to flourish in their field. Lehigh boasts one of the best Greek systems in the country, so students looking to contribute to their community in a meaningful way will be at home on Lehigh's campus. Lastly, Lehigh offers a number of excellent entrepreneurship opportunities that let creative minds run wild.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

I think that Lehigh should do more to integrate students that are in different fields of study. There are a few classes that require skills from both engineering and business, but I think that more could be done to unite the unique mix of students that Lehigh has. In the real world, all technology companies need business savvy minds in order to be profitable, so it only makes sense that these two schools become more intertwined.

What kind of person should attend this school?

Prospective Lehigh University students are ones that seek to bridge gaps between typically isolated fields whether they be engineering and business, business and arts, engineering and arts, or a combination of all three. The integrated learning environment at Lehigh is paramount to its graduates' success because of how it equips them with a wide range of skills and knowledge.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

You are about to enter the best four years of your life to date. Note, however, that what you get out of college is a measurable reflection of what you put into it. Your brain power and work ethic will be challenged, but overcoming these challenges will make way for countless opportunities. Your social skills and social awareness will be tested, but stay true to your ethics and morals while keeping an open mind to what others have to offer, and you will emerge with some of the most important friendships you will ever develop. Be driven, be focused, and keep your goals at the forefront of your decision-making. However, do not be so driven that you isolate yourself, do not be so focused that you forego chances to expand, and always understand that goals will inevitably shift and grow. A common phrase you may hear is “Work smarter, not harder.” Bullshit. Work smart, work hard. Know that without making a proactive effort to exercise the reaches of your intelligence and work as hard as you can, you cheat yourself of reaching your true potential. Challenge convention, dare to be better, know your limitations, and then break through them.

Describe the students at your school.

My classmates are driven, with diverse interests and goals. I am not a very social person, so I haven't met or been acquainted with the majority of people I've been around for the last 4 years, but the varitety of students that come to campus every year is growing rapidly, and the atmosphere on campus is changing for the better.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

There's very strong international focus in extracurricular programs and activites. Lehigh has great study abroad programs and does its best to make them accessible to students, with loans and scholarships. Lehigh has a good alumni network, and many of the alumni are especially active in the fields where I plan to work in the future. There's a good amount of students on campus, not too many and not too few. It's also within 2-hours' drive of two metropolitan areas, and it's very easy to travel on weekends and breaks.

Describe how your school looks to someone who's never seen it.

Lehigh University, a small community service oriented campus in an urban setting with an abundance of school pride, surrounds me with an enriching environment, providing me with all necessary resources and more that allows me to flourish in my endeavors.

Describe your favorite campus traditions.

Lehigh University is best known for its advanced engineering courses in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. However, although Lehigh may be known for their engineering courses, all the professors at Lehigh are very skilled professionals. I have gotten more than I could have ever asked for out of Lehigh. All my professors thus far have taught engaging and interactive courses, which have allowed me to flourish as a student and an individual. The course load is difficult and time consuming, but I know graduating from this prestigious university will be worth it in the end.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Be grateful for the time you have in college. I am not only referring to college in general and how fast it goes by, but rather take advantage of the hour of free time you have and instead of taking a nap, do something productive. One thing I regret about my first year as a college student is that I wish I could have been more involved around campus. Yes, I joined many clubs and organizations, but I also could have attended more events that were being run by other organizations. I am not saying to become more involved only so you can improve your resume, but instead so you can look back on college and know you took advantage of every opportunity you were given. Choosing a major in college not only depends on what courses you excel in, but also what you enjoy doing. Being involved in a diverse array of activities allows you to see what you enjoy doing and what you don't. Finally don't stress. Stress is inevitable in college, but if you know you are making the most of your time at school, you can not do anything, so just enjoy it.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Nervous may not be the proper word to describe how I felt about transitioning from high school to college. More particularly, I felt uncertain about my capabilities of doing well academically and adapting well to the different environment. I was sure that I would make friends, but I was not certain how long it would take me to get settled. Do not let your fear, nervousness or uneasiness prohibit you from enjoying the process of transitioning. You only get one chance at a ' high school to college transition.' Embrace the excitement, awkwardness, nerves and novelty of adapting to a new period in your life. It sounds weird and almost impossible, but it is important to accept the change because you will experience change for the rest of your life. Your ability to enjoy diversity and variation now will greatly influence how you respond to changes in your work environment, living conditions, and more. Embrace the change, because will always be constant.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Lehigh is a great school that provides its students with great opportunities to get a job, explore different majors (even create your own major through its IDEAS program) and GET IN SHAPE. What I mean by this is the number of stairs and hills that Lehigh's campus has. Our school mascot is not called the Mountain Hawk for no reason. After a while, climbing the stairs with all of your books in the middle of the winter can become pretty arduous task at the end of the day; however, eventually you learn to take it all in stride.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

The prestige of Lehigh University opens many doors to different internships and jobs. As of 2015 it ranks at number 40 of the top nationally ranked colleges according the US News, and many people are aware of this accolade. The opportunities that Lehigh provides is worth all of your time and money.
