I'm telling you, don't come to this school if your looking for a lot of diversity. A lot of the kids are from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusets. I'd say most of the people I know are from middle to upper class families from these states. I'm not saying that the school is segregated in terms of race or whatnot, but there's just not a lot of options in terms of meeting "different" people. Let's just say the girls all wear uggs and its not uncommon to see a BMW being driven around campus.
Lehigh is by far going to be the best four years of my life! If you're looking for a competitive school where you can definitely let loose whenever you want, COME HERE! I don't know a single person who doesn't swear by our school, and that says A LOT!
Yes, the streotypes are true. Of course you can find all sorts of people, but the majority of teh school is rich white kids who party and study hard.
Academics are superb at the school, our accounting department just got rated number one in the nation! The classes are generally around 30 students, unless your a freshmen or sophmore and taking intro level classes, but even so you have small recitations. Depending on the size of the class, attendance may or may not be taken for participation points and the professor may or may not know you personally. Ive had some really great experiences with professors in the business school and some bad ones, but that's going to happen everywhere. As I said, the students are deffinitely intelligent and there's lots of competition and diffcult courses. Being a business student, you get to know a lot of the people in the business school becasue there are so many required courses. The base of courses is definitely geared towards getting a job, especially if your an accounting or finance major. Overall the academics are definitely challenging but manageable, and you'll always find lots of people in either of the two libraries, before, between or after drinking!
GREEK LIFE is huge on campus! They're are twenty something frats and nine sorrorities and it doesn't stop there. Whether or not your in a frat, you definitely party at this school. The biggest orgonizations other than the greeks are definitely the sports teams, being a division one school definitely gives us a fair share of athletes. Personally I'm not in greek life or on a sports team, but everyone i know is or is best friends with people who are. I don't know a lot of people who aren't involved in some way or another in these two scenes, they're deffinitely are people who don't go out much and what not, but they're a small minority. Myself, I go out at least thursday, friday and saturday (sometimes tuesdays). We go out around 10:30 or 11 and stay out sometimes until four in the morning. Theree isn't a big bar scene at all, and quite frankly the only people who go are seniors who live off campus. The social scene for freshmen, sophomores and juniors in on "The Hill" and all parties are at HUGE frat houses. The two biggest events in the year, which also promote drinking, are Lehigh/Laf week first semster and greek week second semester. Let's just say they're an excuse to drink every day, all day for an entire week. In terms of dating, as of right now, just finishing out my sophomore year, they're isn't a lot of it. I barely know anyone who has or had a steady boyfriend/girlfriend for a consistent or long time. There's a lot of hooking up at my school, but no one seems to want a relationship (at least from a girls perspective). I'm not trying to say you can't come to our school if your not a big drinker, i'm just telling you how it is. You might want to think twice about what you want in considering coming here is your not planning on drinking every weekend. From my perspective, I don't know what there is to do on a saturday night besides go to a frat party.
A major stereotype about Lehigh is that its a party school with challenging academics. The moto work hard play hard is used, meaning a high amount of both. Lehigh students are known to lack diversity, being mostly white from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. They're seen as a bunch of rich white kids.
Lehigh is a great school! The school is a pretty good size, you get to know a lot of people and will see at least a couple familiar faces walking around on a random day, but you don't know everyone (you're deffinitely not lost in the crowd). The campus itself is absolutely beautiful, especially in the spring and fall and although South Bethlehem isn't too fabulous, you're right by Allentown, and only an hour from Philly, so there's enoguh to do. It's an AMAZING school, lots of work and LOTS of partying. Most people are in business and engineering majors, which are botch very competitive and challenging. Don't get me wrong though, it's not all work! Greek life is HUGE on or campus, and whether or not you're in a fraternity or sororrity the amount of parties and whatnot surrounding the greek life makes for an amazing time!
