Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

Jeff

Looking at the amount of people lined up for the bus to New Haven Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night it's understandable why some might think that

Brian

very

Eric

Well considering that over 90{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of QU is white and looks like an Abercrombie fashion show I would say it is a party school; however, the parties here do not seem any more frequent or wilder than other colleges

Jill

There's a good amount of truth to it

Andy

They are exactly true.

Jessica

for the most part

Madison

Most of the people fit the description.

christina

These stereotypes are completely inaccurate. While some of the people at this school are very wealthy, there are also many middle-class, average people. It took me a long time to find those people though, because a lot of people come here and are intimidated and pretend to have money. By sophomore year, you learn who's faking, who your true friends are, and who's not. There are more people here that are average than extremely wealthy, a lot of people just try to hide it. And just because you're an RA doesn't mean you are poor.

Brett

Yes, students are very focused on labels and go out of their way to show them off. some girls look like they are going to a club instead of a 11 am class.

Bethany

The stereotypes exist for a reason. QU does have a large population of rich preppy girls and jocky boys. However, most of those girls and guys are really nice and there is a good percentage of people who are just your average person. I haven't found a lot of racism on campus though we've had a couple select problems with people being immature. I personally think it's a great school.

Brianna

Girls are not easier than at any other college. There are a lot of people who have a lot of money but for the most part people at QU are not rich, some are snobby but you will find that at any school. Quinnipiac is no more of a party school than anywhere else. There are no frat houses so get ready to party in your dorm rooms.

Alex

yes

Owen

The campus is mostly white, not alot of diversity but not everyone is not rich and stuck-up. you will find people that are just like you it just takes awhile to find out who your real friends are. If you come from a predominantly white town then QU will be a lot like your hometown. If you are used to diversity and like it, then QU wont be good for you

joe

No some kids are but most arent

Lorie

Um no, granted EVERYONE goes out on thursday-saturday nights but we do have ridiculously high GPA's and QU is a competitive school thats pretty hard to get into... with that said, maybe weve just found the right balance between studying and partying... and the school is maybe 99.9{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} white, its just a prefrence you have to make if you want a more diverse campus or not

Jessica

no.

Gene

This stereotype is somewhat accurate, a lot of the kids are italians who think they are hot shit, there is also a decent sized jewish population on the campus(japs)

Kyle

There are a lot of hot girls and you tend to find a decent amount of meat heads

Dylan

Not really

leis

yes

Royce

rich.. yeah a lot of the kids come from money; but its not all preppy and its actually one of the nicest and friendliest schools i know of

Sara

For the most part no, but you do have see some of those types people around the campus but other than them everyone is really chill and down to earth.

Shannon

no, well there isnt alot of diversity but there is some.

Danielle

there are a lot of rich students here but i wouldnt say they are snobby

Gene

There is a general sense of snobbery from a pretty high percentage of students at Quinnipiac, but there are also many who are just great, down-to-earth people who take their education seriously and are very involved on and off campus.

Tate

yes, they are true for abut 95{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the population

Ashley

No, not all the girls are like that. I feel it is very untrue and unfair to label an entire student body in such a manner.

Andy

Many students come from affluent families, but I'd say the majority of students are not attractive. Especially the males, seeing as the male to female ratio is severely off, it's around 70-30.

Nicole

Absolutely not.

Rebecca

There is no diversity and many people do come from money

Rachel

No.

Corinne

Yes.

Regina

Pretty much, but the people are still nice

Brett

mostly, yes. I think there are also many people from the rest of NY, NJ, and MA here too. I also think that this school has a little more diversity than we are sterotyped.

Mike

The students are the same students that you will find at any college. Everyone is eager to meet each other and you'll have a group of friends in minutes. Quinnipiac housing is great. I have a single, air conditioned bedroom, for example. Quinnipiac is building a second campus across the street from their current campus that is going to double size of the school. More and more housing is becoming available.

Steven

Although a lot of people are very wealthy, not everyone is as spoiled as they look at a first glance.

mary

no

Melissa

They absolutely are! Some people here, well most of them, can be really nasty. You try and be nice and it's almost as if they want nothing to do with you. If you're not materialistic and don't party every thursday night it's like you're an outcast. I'm definitely not one of those people. Money has always been the issue and I could care less what kind of bag i have around my shoulder. Even though there are many snobs around here, I've probably met some of the best friends i could ever ask for.

Dan

Yes

Erin

By just looking around at the student body of QU, the rich stereotype does seem true; but it is not. Many, many students are not rich and while the majority are white and middle-upper class, that is absolutely not the case for everyone. There is someone here for everyone in that almost any "type" of person could come here and find a group of friends that they would enjoy.

Jonathan

In a general sense, I believe the stereotype is accurate. There are way too many people here who only care about partying and act like they are better than everyone else. It creates an atmosphere, where people like myself and many of my close friends who share similar positions as myself, find it difficult to fit in. With the obvious exceptions, it is hard to meet people and becomes friends with them unless you are willing to go out and drink with them all the time. That's my personal opinion, but I'm sure I am not alone in this regard.

Alyss

No, I think there is a range of incomes here. I know a lot of students that really cannot afford to go to any college without their financial aid No, there are a lot of students here on the weekends Yes, the places people are from are not very diverse

Charlie

yes, for the most part, diversity is improving. I am not from long island am not rich, have an opinion and get involved but am white, I owe a north face and ugs.

Lorie

There are plenty of girls who don't own ugg boots and there are plenty of decent looking guys who aren't guidos. Majority fall under those categories though.

Jamie

I don't think so. Because our campus housing forces students to live in the community, the surrounding areas see us on our free nights more so than other schools. There are probably more Quinnipiac students out at night than the surrounding schools because there isn't any nightlife on our campus. I have attended another University, and have visited a lot of friends at schools that believe in our stereotype.....and they are worse than us. They just do their partying on campus.

Andrea

Students = I can not deny that QU students are very good looking, however all students are not snobby or stupid. Every school, especially those that are pricey, have their fair share of snobby kids. That doesn't mean that all students are snobby. There are also a fair share of down-to-earth kids. With regards to intelligence, it is a challenging school where many teachers are also professors at Yale! If you do get in and your stupid, you won't "get by" like in high school and you probably won't last; college is hard work. School = Our campus is breathtaking and well worth the stereotype that it is gorgeous. The grounds crew works hard and is an awesome place to spend away from home. The school just built a new sports arena so tuition did go up. I don't think it is accurate to say that they are greedy because they put a lot into the school, and students walk out with a lot. We are Division 1 and compete against some very tough schools, and we are not bad! The new sports arena is gorgeous and students love going to the exciting games! Additionally, every college parties. Yale parties, Southern parties, Fairfield parties, and yes...Quinnipiac has its fair share of partying. It is a safe school to have fun at and a college experience that is unforgettable. It is not an easy schoo to get into. Applicants put on the waiting list have not been accepted in six years, so for those high school seniors, apply early! Acceptance rate is down to about 48{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} (according to the admissions office). Lastly, it is a diverse school just not that large yet to attract many students from other countries. They are working towards that though!

Brianna

yes

Melanie

The stereotypes at time can be true. Sure, there are the "rich" kids but everyone here is geniunely nice. I have never had a problem with anyone. And getting dressed up is throwing on jeans and a shirt to go to class.

Casey

NO. An immense amount of students at Quinnipiac receive financial aid and many participate in work study. Any health science program exemplifies a group of overachievers that could probably handle a yale curriculum with all of the work they do. The kids are not racist, there is simply not a lot of diversity on campus. That is not the students' fault. Not all of the girls are slutty and/or easy.

Lauren

To a point yes, but there are a lot of opportunities to not be apathetic at this school if you decide to take advantage of them.
