I think that this school has the potential to be one of the best HBCU's around, but there needs to be major changes that take place. Administration does not have their priorities straight and it shows because students spent the first month of classes this semester just trying to find out where and if they were going to be staying on campus. Certain offices have rude individuals that do not want to be there and definitely will not help students to the best of their ability. Students consistently get turned around from office to office in search of help that rarely comes. The IT department is overworked and understaffed and it shows. The internet goes out at least twice a month while the Student Portal that holds all of our personal information goes down even more frequently. Buildings are falling apart and instead of restoring building that need to be in use for students, funds are being used to fix issues that none of us even notice. The lines on roads and parking spots need to be redone completely, but the administration decided to renovate a small building formerly used for housing, as a storage for gameday apparel. Students do not have a voice unless they are in student government, but that is not something achievable due to the favoritism of current student leaders and directors in charge. Certain students take priority over others and it shows greatly. Students are not protected as well as we could be. This school has been open since 1896 but we only got security cameras in 2022 after a student was shot near campus. Several students died last year as a result of violence in the area, but the first lady of the campus claims we are safe because we are in a gated community. There are fences around us, but that does not stop all of the problems that have been created. The president claims to have an open door policy but dismisses claims as already being taken care of when nothing has ever been done. I love my HBCU, but there needs to be a change if they want to see retention and graduation rates rise. There has to be a change if they want all their students to leave and continue to give back or even send their children to experience what it means to be a loyal son or daughter of this once great university. I want to see the change here and it genuinely hurts as a student that I know I will have to become an alumni to see it happen.
this school is great , it tells us the background of the school just by walking on campus . the history of this school and the alumni's are incredible . homecoming week we had the vice president come to our school. they have meetings to talk about to have safe sex . this school is amazing and i'm class i get to apart of the bulldog legacy .
I love SC State! I just wish they had more updated dormitories. I feel to be more competitive more money needs to be poured into the schools to update dorms and facilities. That’s only issue I feel that needs to be worked on. Other than that, I love my SCSU.
I love it !It was the best school I have ever been to. The teachers and faculty are all so caring and willingly to help with any and everything. The professors are very personal, and always there for their students. Most professors will give out their personal numbers to help out. It's a very great school!

If I could go back to college I would do it all Over
The amount of foolishness one could get into. I don't mind having the social parties and concerts. However, sometimes the amount of alcohol and drugs was ridiculous. These were NEVER affiliated with campus functions, but the students would have them available. And that always gave us a bad name locally. Our campus nickname was "Party University". I always hated that because one can get a great education from SC State.
My classmates at South Carolina State University were knowledgeable and insightful into our field of study.
sports and social-academic life
The family enviroment where everyone feels like they belong.
I brag about how live and spirit filled the campus is.
Befoe coming to this school I wish that I have known that partying and being in sororities will get me where I needed to be in life. I wish that I just would have attending college and get what I needed to succeed in life. I attended this college and because I was young and didn't have my life well planned and put together, it took me longer then normal to complete my college degree. Not only did I let joining a sorority get in my way, but I also knew that it took me a while to learn.
Being at SCSU you feel welcomed by your peers. there is a strong "bulldog" family that most students feel as they matriculate through the university. although SCSU is not rated as the highest institution of higher education, the degree that you earn is valued and looked at with great concern. the university prepares students for everyday challenges and does not let anyone graduate without having that BULLDOG PRIDE.
Nothing, everything is amazing!
