I began my attendance of the University of Oregon in the Fall of 2015. I had only visited the campus one previous time in the Spring of 2015, of course it was a beautiful spring day. It rained so much my first year... Anyways I came to the University of Oregon not knowing what to expect. On the first day of our Introduction I was instantly introduced to the openness and inclusivity of this great campus. We all went around and introduced ourselves using our pronouns in order to be inclusive and caring for everyone. That is something I had never done ever before and something talking with friends at other campuses did not do. My experience here was fantastic from going crazy at football games to spending late nights in the library working on group projects everyone here felt like one big community. The faculty and professors were some of the nicest people I had ever met. They were always willing to meet us where we were at and wanted us to succeed. They would be willing to put in the work if we were willing to put in the work. The classes were engaging and interesting and really covered such a wide variety of content. I found myself going into college narrow-minded and thinking one way but graduating 3.5 years later I can say I am a much more open-minded individual. I can see things from several different perspectives now and feel like I can contribute to society in a greater capacity. I applied to the University of Oregon as a back-up school but I was wrong to consider it a back-up school. Attending the university was one of the best decisions I had ever made. This coming fall I plan on attending their Master's Program in Prevention Science and hopefully one day a doctoral program. As all Ducks say, SCO DUCKS!

University of Oregon is a bright and bustling school filled with a diverse student population and countless opportunities to get involved. The school spirit is alive and well here and was one of the many qualities that initially first attracted me to this campus. And from frat/sorority life, LGBTQ activism, feminist movements, and minority programs, there is a place for everyone here. The academics here are broad and definitely very beneficial to us as students.

The University of Oregon is my dream school. When I walked on campus I immediately felt this electricity that I would compare to the same feeling of when you walk in time square for the first time. It has amazing academics and sports. Being at a D1 school is really cool because I can go to games for free when other people at those games are paying for it. I love that I can get all of the programs that I want that is in Oregon and one that has good sports teams.

This University is a welcoming and encouraging campus. Here all people are respected and supported. However, this campus is not terribly safe. My first year the students were plagued by armed robberies all winter and some of the bars are known to be unsafe for women. All in all, if you are looking for a school in Oregon I think that the University of Oregon is actually your best choice if you want a good balance of education to nightlife.

Being a Duck at the University of Oregon is everything I hoped for! I visited a lot of colleges all over the country, but the second I stepped on the campus of UO, I knew I had found my college home. It’s a beautiful campus with a friendly, welcoming student population, the teachers are very kind and supportive, there’s a huge amount of #GoDucks school spirit, and it’s an accepting environment where we celebrate our diversity. During my senior year of high school, I was invited to UO a program for students from diverse backgrounds called “Embracing the Future.” There were positive and moving presentations that day from students of color and first-generation students who all shared their journey as UO students. Their message was that UO was looking for tomorrow’s leaders and thinkers, and you can find your community at UO, regardless of your background, heritage, identity, or anything else that makes you who you are. A few months later, I committed to UO and traveled there for Freshman Orientation, also known as IntroDUCKtion, and once I was introduced to my “flock” (yes, UO uses every possible duck metaphor possible), the UO Staff made sure that every single person, including students and parents, felt welcomed, included, and part of the UO community. I know next four years are going to be some of the most memorable and important years of my life and I’m so glad this exciting chapter of my life is at the University of Oregon.

As a current Freshman in my second term, I enjoy being at the University of Oregon. I thought that it college life would be difficult and that I would not fit in. Yet when I arrived, I was welcomed by the staff and other students. University of Oregon has and continues to promote engagement with all students on campus. Not only that, the courses are fairly rigorous and professors are helpful with office hours and providing other resources. Yet there are other downfalls, such as the overall cost of attending at this university. But other than that, it is a blessing being here.

There's not much you can't do at U of O. Besides the beautiful campus, there are limitless resources and opportunities for learning, studying, and getting involved with clubs and extra curricular activities. Personally, my favorite aspect of being a student at U of O is being in community with such passionate and intelligent people that I get to study alongside and learn from. I am constantly inspired by the people around me and it is my privilege to call myself a Duck.
