An opportunity to learn in a large class setting. Must be able to conform to certain class schedules, as the selections are quite limited. Professors are caring, however, the department of registrar can become difficult.

It's a good school, fun, great campus. It's definitely the most luxurious of the public universities in Florida. Teachers are great and accessible. On campus housing is nice like great views and sits on nice property but it also depends who you dorm with.

For students seeking higher education in a university setting, the responsibilities of being a young adult having to constantly use critical thinking skills for every decision can be overwhelming. However, at Florida Atlantic University, critical thinking is a skill that is promoted, which helps freshmen adjust to their new environment and interconnect with other students of many different backgrounds. More specifically, FAU promotes critical thinking because it cultivates students to analyze real-life problems and provide the best solutions at the same time, there are programs on campus that are meant to protect students from traumatic situations. The university provides a strong balance between promoting critical thinking and providing trigger warnings for students in order to prepare ideas that may upset them. ). In 2017, a private prison corporation, the GEO Prison Group, led by a former student of FAU, offered to sponsor the construction of the school’s stadium for six million dollars, in exchange for the naming rights. Students of FAU demonstrated microaggression by protesting after board officials accepted the deal and went public. Students felt that the GEO Prison Group’s history of human rights abuse was intolerable. However, students demonstrated critical thinking because they band together to fight something, they felt was unfair within their school. Consequently, faculty at FAU were persuaded to protest alongside students, who victoriously convinced the faculty senate to condemn the deal. FAU’s main objective is to nurture young adults to have a strong foundation of knowledge and effectively solve problems by utilizing facts over opinion. FAU promotes a 0-credit course that is mandatory for all incoming freshmen transitioning from high school to a university; this course is called Student Learning Services or (SLS). SLS encourages students to not only express themselves but to accept others who share different backgrounds, as well as urging students to practice safe drinking and report cases of sexual or social harassment. SLS correlates with the authors' notion that people are misguided into believing that historical topics are “dangerous or damaging” and should be avoided altogether because of hostility and sensitivity (Lukianoff and Haidt 266). However, exposure strengthens tolerance as well as teaches students to value and analyze new environments in order to adapt and put their best foot forward.

I loved my time at FAU! It was a supportive environment with great professors. There are lots of clubs and organizations to get involved in and you get a lot of connections through FAU. The only downside is that some parts of the school could use renovating.

It is a nice school, however there are some issues with it. The housing gets overcrowded sometimes and since Boca Raton is an expensive city, off-campus living is not cheap. The parking is not enough to accommodate all the students. The internet connection is spotty when walking in between buildings. The advisors are also not very helpful. The school is what you make of it.

Ever since day one when I toured the Florida Atlantic University campus I felt in love instantly. It’s a feeling I can not explain nor have I felt with any other campus’s I toured. I am currently a sophomore soon to be a junior and I am so glad I chose to be an ‘OWL’ (our University mascot.) Florida Atlantic University offers a variety of opportunities/program so no individual would feel left out. The professors care deeply about the students and will gladly help whether it’s scheduling a quick after hour visit for help understanding a lesson taught earlier in class or a email sent to them at 8pm even, asking a question about the course. Personally, I love the flexible scheduling especially since I have the option of taking all online courses, night courses, or even early morning courses. Florida Atlantic University is truly the place to be, Go OWLS!!!!

Florida Atlantic University (FAU), is overall a wonderful school. It is a campus that has many different ethnicities that one can learn and many different opportunities for students to get involved. I am a Freshman here on campus and I can say that I would recommend this school to everyone I know including my future kids.

My opinion of FAU is that it is a very diverse school with a lot of great majors, classes and activities. It is also in a very nice city located very close to many popular stores and the Boca Raton Town Center. Housing is very overpriced but nice. All of our sports teams are pretty good and the school is a very sports oriented place.

Florida Atlantic University is a great school, it is not too big, yet not too small. I love the environment. Everyone makes you feel so welcomed. I absolutely adore it here. Most of the professors make it simple in a way where you have to apply your skills and knowledge to pass their classes. They offer classes for almost every major and even if they do not have what you want, they can prepare you for where you need to go after your adventure at Florida Atlantic University.
