The University of Akron is an excellent school, but could use some work in their online presence. Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable, the on-campus atmosphere is safe and conducive to learning, and there are plenty of available resources. I appreciate the branches, such as Wayne College, that are available.
The University of Akron is one of my top 10 colleges to pick from because their tuition rates are very low and there are many scholarship opportunities. When I visited the campus, the tour guides were not only informative but they were also very friendly and welcoming, which made me feel like I was already apart of their community. They have so many programs to major in from nursing programs to business to even Criminal Justice programs and if you're undecided they even have someone you could go to if you need the help to figure it out. The dorms give you access to washers and dryers so you don't have to walk across campus, which I believe is a benefit for students who are living on campus and they also allow you to have visitors for up to three days. Furthermore, they have an on campus theater and a bowling area for students living on campus. I believe their recreation center from the rock wall to the swimming pool area is stunning, something to look forward to when deciding to live on campus. The University of Akron even has a special health center, for only $15, you are able to get a check up with certified nurses on campus. Their are many Sports and activities to choose from, including outdoor activities and events on campus. The job opportunities on campus are also another positive outcome to look forward to. There is always someone to help out on this campus. When I think of The University of Akron I think of a second home as to how welcoming and motivated they are to have every student who walks through their doors graduate and have a hopeful, successful future ahead of them.
The University of Akron is a good institution to attend, being an alumnus of this institution has molded me into the person I am today. I still keep in contact with my fellow peers and if they need me to participate I am willing to do so.
University of Akron is a wonderful and affordable place to get a great education. It isn't a "fancy" place, but it gets the job done with giving you a good quality education. The professors are there to help you succeed, there are plenty of extras to be involved with, if you are interested. It's a good school.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Akron Main Campus is 95%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
If i could go back, I would tell high school self this: College requires a lot of effort. Homework requires a lot of thought, and a lot of research. It's different being a little fish in a big pond, rather than the other way around. Classes are tougher, teachers grade harder. However, despite the difficulties, it's worth it. Don't be afraid to relax with friends when the stress gets to you. You'll be alright. Overall, don't be afraid. I remember being so scared to go into the "real world," as people told me how cold and unforgiving college would be. It's not as bad as it sounds. College is just a challenge, to which I have risen, and (obviously) so will you.
My classmates bring a broad spectrum of experiences to the classroom. They are engaging, respectful, resourceful and eager to contribute to the learning environment.
The best thing about my school is the fact that it is so diverse. We have people from all backgrounds, recial groups and income levels. And being in a city gives you expierencs that are unique to this school.
A very good urban college
The crime on and off campus. There are a lot of robberies. I do not feel safe being on campus at night by myself.
I like the campus, it's new and has a college feel but is still in a big city so it can be a lot of fun. We also have one of the best male soccer teams in the nation.
I wish I had known more about the activites they have on campus.
The University of Akron is a great school and I am very happy with my choice. I am attending for engineering, as are many other students there. UA is known as a very good engineering school, so I would encourage any potential engineers to seriously consider UA as their college. One of the things I was most suprised about at school was how nice all of the people there are. Not only the faculty, but the students are as well. UA is a great choice for anyone .
The most frustrating thing about my school right now is the Computer Based Testing Center. My college has about 30,000 people attending and the computer lab only has about 80 or so computers. I had to stand in line for about 30 minutes to take my final exam!
A person shouldn't attend this school if they are unable or unwilling to accept help or advice, and believes that they can make it on their own.
In a school of about 30,000 students there is a place for everyone.
The University of Akron is best known its Engineering department. Being located in Rubber City, UA has had many close partnerships with all of the largest rubber corporations in America. These partnerships have allowed for many incredible facilities and projects on campus. The residence organizations, the Residence Hall Programming Board and Residence Hall Council, are also very highly regarded in many national college residence groups.
Many people believe that everyone here is from the Inner City areas around the state, but actually it's pretty evenly shared among all the different demographics (farming communities, cities, suburbs, etc.)
Helpful
As far as academics go, UA has an excellent engineering program as well as psychology. Many of my professors have written the textbooks used by multiple other schools, so I'd say we have some pretty outstanding professors who know what they're talking about. even in my larger lecture halls, the professors take the time to get to know each student on a personal level. There are some really cool gym classes too, such as archery, bowling, billiards and scuba diving.
The most popular activities at the University of Akron would be, after a long hard day of studying, students gather in the Student Union as well as the Rec center to relax.
Akron seemed like a much safer place than others think at first. Also, they are very success oriented and drive their students to work hard and achieve their goals in the classroom and out. Also, at around $20,000 a year, the price of school will be much less than most but you still get a very solid education.
A typical weekend at the University of Akron consists of homework, studying, but also a lot of fun activities. With possible free time, many students take advantage of the varying events around or near campus on the weekends. There's a bowling alley and game room, along with a movie theater in the Student Union. Also, there is typically some type of sporting event available to go to. Plus, there's always the Rec center to go and play basketball or lift weights. The typical weekend of the U of A student has homework and studying, but also includes fun with friends.
The dorms are acceptable to live in for the entire year. Some have community bathrooms on each floor, while the ones with private bathrooms typically cost a little extra (Honors Complex for example). There's plenty of room as long as you know how to plan and weed out the things you don't need most. Being able to store things when not in use is a big part of having a nice dorm room.
The University of Akron is a great school to go to, and should be on everyone's list of possible landing spots. We have a rich tradition of academic and sport success. There's always something to do in Akron, whether it's on campus or in the areas around. At Akron, we like to have fun while still maintaining a strong academic feel. It's a medium sized campus, placed in the middle of Akron, which is a nice homely feeling while still being in a big city.
