My review of Fresno State is that it is a great university for both local students and students that come from far to study here. The campus is gorgeous and the library looks amazing. The sports culture here is great so you can make friends very easily. The food is good don't have any complaints about it. This is an amazing school to come attend.
Fresno State is a great school for the academically inclined. The vast amount of majors offered allows for all students to find what they're interested in and learn all about it. For English majors specifically, there is an immense amount of opportunities to get involved and learn all about the literature of the past. Fresno State is also home to many poet loriets, making it very prestigious.
My name is Sophia Garcia and I am a second semester freshman and living on campus. This university has been an amazing experience for me. All the professors I've had have made me and other students feel welcomed and make sure everyone is getting involved somehow. Whenever there is activities on campus the vibe is always fun and positive. There are A LOT of resources here on campus for everything. Living here on campus has been an amazing experience a long with meeting new people who live here. If there had to be a change, I'd say more financial resources. paying to live on campus is not easy or fun, it is definitely a struggle.
I originally wanted to attend a bigger school in the south or along the east coast, however, because of the COVID Pandemic, I decided to stay in California. Moving to Fresno can be a culture shock to people who aren't familiar with the area, especially if you've never been here before. I moved here for school with a lot of experience and knowledge about the Fresno-Clovis region and it was definitely helpful. I honestly really have enjoyed my time at Fresno State so far and would honestly recommend it to most people. We're a traditional university in the sense that we have a widely recognised football team, very active Greek System, and various campus activities. I am affiliated with Greek Life here and think my experience here has been so amazing because of the connections and experiences I have made with the Greek System. Fresno is definitely a "who you know" community, and this extends on-campus, however, not in a clique way. If you know someone in the Greek System or you know someone on a sports team or someone with a lake cabin, your experiences will be so much better. If you're looking to dedicate your life to academics, you won't by any means be alone, however, you will also have opportunities to have crazy college experiences if you wanted.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for California State University-Fresno is 53%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
The advice I would give myself would have been to stay focused on my studies instead of worrying about my social life. I would remind myself that academics leads to my future along with helping me become successful. Remember the one thing my mom always said, " This is your future it is now time to become serious and realize that you are an adult."
My classmates are great students that have worked hard throughout high school to become part of the student body at Fresno State and they also help me to have the perserverence I need to succeed in my college career.
Fresno State University campus is a great place to study and to have a successful education. It provides students with quiet places where we can study. Not only that but also many clubs and organizations where us students can be involved, that gives us the opportunity to also enjoy college and most likely graduate. The tutoring Fresno State is helpful; it helps students with any course they might have difficulties in. Math is my worst subject and with the tutoring Fresno State offers I was able to pass the class.
To tell the truth as of right now, I'm not sure what is really the worst thing about for Fresno State because for the past year in a half I was able to be involved with the school. One thing I can say is the worst part, is actually myself because I don't take advantage of the time they give us to do class assignment, but other than that the school has been great for myself.
its close to home, have friends that already go there and have met many more great friends
The Best thing about Fresno State is it is local and it offers a MFA in creative writing.
The limitations of loan packages, and that I would still have to work while in school.
Fresno State, like Fresno, is amazingly dieverse; Fresno State is for anyone that enjoys meeting new people and experiencing new things.
CSU Fresno is best know for its agricultural department. We have a lot of farming and food production on campus.
Trying to get all the right materials for the classes that we need because they usually tends to run out and then we have to wait for next shipping.
A person who does not like to show up to class and do work should not attend Fresno State. Those who fail classes at Fresno State are those students who don't show up to class, do not participate, and do not do their work. Also, a person who is looking for a big party school should not attend Fresno State because this school focuses more on academics and education rather than having fun.
i brag about the football team, my dance team im apart of, and the variety of resturants we have on campus
Fresno State is a great university that helps you succeed and meet new people along the way. The best thing about this school is that the faculty and staff are always willing to help their students. If I were to change one thing about this school it would be to add more classes. Unfortunantely, Fresno State took a hard hit with this economical downfall and has had to endure many budget cuts. Since I commute to school, I have not experienced much of the "college town," although friends tell me its great! The library and student union is open til late and you always find students cramming for their finals, or just hanging out after a stressful week of midterms! Overall, the school is great and I have yet to come across a problem or situation that would discourage me from coming to Fresno State.
Many people believe that Fresno State is "not such a good school", and that students who pick Fresno State over other schools are "settling". This is FALSE. Like every other university, you have a mix of people, and a mix of motivation and achievement levels. However, we have many intelligent students, including those who graduated high school with GPAs above 4.0s. Fresno State students have gone far and become very successful- we have had graduates that went on to become NASA astronauts, educators, judges, CEOs... and so much more!
Academics are a major deal at Fresno State. As I had mentioned before, the faculty and staff at Fresno State are always willing to help! After the first few weeks of class, the professors start recognizing faces and even start calling you by their names! Although, this is not necessarily true for the GE classes that are held in larger settings. Study groups are also a big thing at state. Students are provided with spacious study room in the library to hold study sessions with large groups. We also have a lot of different clubs on campus that are made up of students who hold the same interest as others. This is a great way to meet new people and learn about potential grad schools and even Med School!
There are many groups people can become a part of! We have a variety of clubs, sororities/fraternities, athletic teams, honor societies, and of course- marching band! At Fresno State, marching band is an experience different from anything someone may have experienced in high school. The band consists of 300 members coming from all types of backgrounds, and all types of mentalities. But regardless of initial beliefs about band, the band becomes one and forms into a wonderful thing to be a part of. When I first became a part of the band, I felt a bit of culture shock. I had a background that was very serious, and the environment was very competitive. Here, everything was different! It didn't matter where you were from, it mattered that you were here now. And the band was fun to be around, and the games were a blast! Unlike high school, which often does not appreciate band to the full extent, here, we are welcomed- and appreciated. The athletic directors and sports players often stop by to say hello, and fans at the game are super excited when the band comes marching in :) The band here also hosts its own competition for the high schools, and participates in Band Day. During Band Day, thousands of students from local high schools perform at a Fresno State Football game with the band, and they have an awesome experience. Other than just the "band aspect" of band, there is a wonderful community aspect. In times of pride and joy, the band celebrates together. In times of tragedy, the band comes closer together. Honestly, I can't imagine how my first three years of Fresno State would have been if I hadn't been a part of the BMB. For the none-band members, we also have various dance groups that perform a few times during the semester, we have choral groups that tour around the state, we have department honor societies, a variety of volunteer opportunities, and even a club that plays different types of board games every Friday night.
