I absolutely love it! I highly recommend it to undergrads and graduate students alike! One of the main things I was impressed with is how personable and approachable the Dean was. That says quite a bit about a school, right? I am a Georgia Tech girl for life!

Georgia Tech is an intelligent, well-known school with a variety of characteristics. As an incoming freshman, I have heard many great things about the school. The campus is beautiful and easy to navigate. The student life is vibrant and diverse. Most of all, the school's reputation for being a smart, highly innovative school is mostly what drew me to go there. I am hoping to be well prepared for med school.

I love it. Academics, resources, and opportunities are everywhere. There is a little bit of everything and some might find Tech really hard, but if you do not procrastinate and do everything in order, it won't be that big of a problem. It is in the middle of the city, so there is everything really close.

“Look to your left and your right. One of the three of you will not graduate.” This was one of the phrases I heard during a freshman orientation. These words were used to scare incoming freshman at many universities. Unfortunately, at Georgia Tech, the words are true. Most of the students are stressed or depressed while there because of the hard work. When Alumni meet each other, they don’t ask “When did you graduate?”, the ask, “When did you get out?” Georgia Tech is a school made to test your limits and teach you every bit of technical information you need to know in the working world. In Mechanical Engineering, they have a theoretical approach to teaching most classes but offer lab classes near the end of the curriculum. They also have a large number of extracurricular activities and research opportunities. I remember working in the departments Invention Studio (a student run machine shop), and one person was heat treating metal. The piece was on fire and everyone jumped out of the way as he thrust the metal in a vat of oil. All in all, Georgia Tech prepares you to face the hardships and teaches you the technical knowledge necessary to succeed in your chosen career.

Georgia Tech offers students one of the best educations in the country while also giving the illusion of complete isolation in one of Americas largest cities. Each and every day I love this school even more. My love for learning is matched by my professors and their enthusiasm motivates me to learn.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The Georgia Institute of Technology, more commonly referred to as Georgia Tech or simply Tech, is a tremendously challenging school, even for the most intelligent students. As a student, you will be forced to truly prove yourself and your abilities. High test grades that once came so easily in high school are now rarities here, yet receiving one is the biggest reward for your hard work. You will encounter so many interesting and insanely intelligent students. You will hear conversations about hemoglobin and huge science words that are difficult to pronounce while eating dinner at the dining hall. You will meet artists, musicians, athletes, and a huge variety of people. However, no matter how different each person may seem, they all have one thing in common: they are all in the same struggle to graduate with a Georgia Tech degree. That common struggle will comfort you while you are studying at 4 in the morning. Georgia Tech will make you memorize more information than you ever believed your brain could hold. It will make you cry as you look at your transcript after a particularly rough semester. It will make you question how much you truly want your degree. Despite all of this, the Georgia Institute of Technology will make you into a helluva engineer (no matter your major) as well as a strong student with an extremely bright future. The sleepless nights, the frequent stress, and the constant urge to just drop out will all be made worth it when you walk across that stage and get handed your diploma. You can't graduate from one of the top schools in the country without a little (a lot) of hard work.

The campus is beautiful! The students are diverse, passionate, and intelligent. There are a ton of opportunities to get involved in activities or research, just walk out to Tech/Skiles walkay and your sure to find something. Most if not all professors are excellent and available (there are some duds). Classes are sufficiently challenging, there are free tutoring services everywhere though. I will complain that the art scene is very limited if you are super passionate. There are beginner opportunities but nothing beyond that. This is changing somewhat but I have encountered a (ONE) professor in physics that gave a guest lecture on why the modern humanities was horrible and leeching off the successes of Einstein. Like I said, there are some duds. I am actually working with some people to start a special program for students to cross register at SCAD for art courses, so this should change. NOTE: do not take honors classes (different from honors program classes) unless you have a strong understanding of the material already and two or more semesters of math beyond the prerequisite (at least for my honors physics class). The honors courses are taught like you know this already and it can be frustrating that the prerequisites don't reflect this. Overall, however, I really love this school and have gotten involved but still have time for school. I'm a freshman and I already am working on research. As are plenty of my friends!

Is this college difficult? Very. Am I tired a lot? Definitely. Do I want some coffee? You don't even have to ask. Despite all of the exhaustion, exams, tough professors, and impossible homework, the spirit of Georgia Tech students is incredible. They will support, persevere, and excel, despite everything thrown at them. I will always be proud to be a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

I think Georgia Tech is a profound school for its academics. It challenges it's freshman class of Valedictorians, nerds, and geeks of high school to fail their first class or drop their first class due to the rigorous workload that it's students are challenged with. All those straight A students from high school have an emotional storm when they feel the hopelessness hit them all of a sudden. Although, I wasn't that student to drop a class or fail a class because I was one who was going to fight my way through and give the best I had. All those perfect A’s and never a B in high school suddenly came to an end my first semester at Tech. Well at least for that semester. Students at Georgia tech remember that crying and pain that they felt that first semester and talk amongst one another outraged in disbelief, but positively are motivated and talking to one another in their intelligent conversations about how they will fight to get that grade point average up. Talking about the commitment and planning that they will do in the future, the discipline of cutting back on some of the partying and late night gatherings that they were distracted by as first semester freshmen. Georgia tech has a beautiful campus. A nature scenery of trees, grass, flowers, and mowed lawns. A campus that's not too noisy, a campus where people study, and socialize about their futures. The campus is in one huge city that offers great opportunities after college. A Georgia Tech degree is one of the most profound degrees in the world. Having that on your resume can really set you up for the future with one in six graduates from Georgia tech becoming millionaires. Georgia tech is compared very often to top ivy leagues like Harvard and Yale. I hear many things about Tech like there's always rumors going around that Georgia Tech is slightly more rigorous than Harvard. Overall I think Georgia tech is the best option for me, a self-motivated student wanting to face the greatest challenges in life to become the greatest I can be.
