Palm Beach Atlantic University is small with a lot of emphasis on the individual as well as placing an emphasis on a relationship with God.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Be prepared for separation anxiety and slight depression when you move away from home. Everyone talks about how fun and independent college is but not many people tell you about how much you are affected when you live on your own for the first time. Spending time in the bible is a huge help. At times you will feel like leaving college altogether and going back home, but just try to work through it because the depression will pass.

What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The worst thing about Palm Beach Atlantic is the lack of life and activity on the weekends.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I was to go back in time as a high school student there would be many things I would tell myself about college. The first thing I would tell myself is to not be a procrastinator. That I need to get my homework done that day I receive the assignment. Some other wise words I would tell myself would be that college is not all about studying, that I need to go out and have fun but only after my homework is done. The last thing I would tell myself as a high school student is the biggest of all; when I need help, go get it do not wait until it is too late. I would make sure as a high school student I understand that help is the way to succeed when I am struggling. If I could go back and tell myself what to do in college to thrive this would be it. Also I would be willing to share these secrets with anyone going to college.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would tell me as a high school senior to pace myself. It's not necessary to join everything and do everything that college offers in the first year. I would tell myself to prepare to get way more organized than I ever was in highschool. My senior self would also need to know that friendships are made over time and that you don't need to rush or cling to people just so you don't feel alone. I would let myself know that I will make a lot of mistakes and have hard times but that I will learn from those mistakes and that as long as I keep trying I can push through the hard times. I would like to let myself as a senior know that this is just another leap I have to brave to make it to where I want to be in life. I'd tell myself to stay myself and do whatever it takes to get the most knowledge, educational and otherwise, out of this experience.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I wish I had known that college would not be as easy for me as high school was. It was a hard transition but now I've learned that it is up to me to take control of my future education and not rely so heavily on outside motivation.

What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

I like to brag about how my campus offers a great variety of delicious and healthy foods that you won't find at most campuses. I love how at PBA the classes are small and personal and your professors really try and get to know you. Also being a ten minute walk from the beach isn't so bad.

Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!

We are a small school, ad it is much easier to meet people and get to know people. Here you are more than just a social security number, you have a name and a face. You feel like you can make more of an impact.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Never say never and don't go in with expectations. College is what you make of it, what you put in to the school you will get out of the school. The moment you say I will never, most likely you will. When you have an expectation you will be let down. College is a lot different then high school. Things that were a big deal in high school are no longer important in college. Be open to new experiences and different people. It is the people that you would never be friends with in high school that turn out to be some of your closest friends. If people have a different view then you, that is okay, it is the different views and ideas that challenge you and shape you into a better person. Any opportunity that comes your way take it! You won't regret the experience or meeting new people!

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

Oh Cindy you have a long way to grow! Don't worry about today and your lack of education or desire to learn because that will soon change; although, it may take twenty some years. Sit back, learn about who you are, and love the Lord. What's that you say? You don't have a personal relationship with Christ? You don't even know who He is? That's ok He has you in His arms and will guide your path! It may hurt a bit but He knows the way, just trust! Ps. Cindy, you will learn to love yourself, even with your disability! I am proud of you! :) Serving Christ with a smile and loving it! YOU/ME xxxooo

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

If I could go back to when I was a high school senior I would tell myself a few things: one would be to enjoy your time here while it lasts, because after this it is time to buckle down. The second thing that I would tell myslelf would be that when I ask the teacher "When am I ever going to use this?," I would tell myself that I am going to use it in college and that is all that matters. The last thing that I would tell myself is to apprieciate the teachers that I have because once you get to college they don't care about you like they do here. If I had told myself these things I owuld have been able to enjoy t more because I would know what to expect.

What kind of person should attend this school?

A person that wants to go to college but feels that they cannot find the time or the means. Thsi school would be it.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would have paid more attention and school, and made sure I have it my very best. Even though I graduated with pretty good grades, I could have done better to get a perfect 4.0. Better grades equal more oportunities such as full scholarships, where I wouldn't have to worry about the cost of school now.

What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about my school would have to be their reputation and christian atmosphere they carry.

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?

I have yet to attend this school, there is nothing that I don't know about that I wish I knew about before.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I would have told myself to go with my first college choice, Humboldt State University instead of havingg to try and transfer to the college. Because Palm Beach Atlantic University don't really care about their students even though they say that they do, that the school is more consider about get money out of the students. Humboldt State University cares about their students, are eco-friendly, culturally diverse, and where the students help each other out.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

Students that are looking for cultural diversity, that is looking for a college that has student that help each other, looking for a college that is eco-friendly, and looking for a college that is worth the cost.

What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

I was a senior in the International Baccalorate Program of Atlantic High School in Delray Beach Florida. I was actively involved in Drama and scholastic achievement. If anything, I would advise myself to search for more scholarships and spend more time building relationships. I overachieved and left high school with few relationships. I also am currently struggling with finances; I should've taken the opporuntity to search for more scholarships so that I could focus on learning instead of earning money.

What's unique about your campus?

My school provides a well-rounded liberal arts education. The best attribute of PBA is the accomplished faculty and range of course diversity.

What kind of person should not attend this school?

Palm Beach Atlantic University is based on biblical principles; although you do not need to be a Christian to attend, it is recommended that you be of the Christian faith. A student could be active in the community and dedicated to learning. They should not be attending for the "party college experience" but for the joy of learning.
