PLEASE PLEASE listen to the people who tell you NOT to go here. it is TRULY the most boring school in the ENTIRE COUNTRY. no amount of scholarship money I got was worth coming here for. LISTEN TO ME. there’s NOTHING TO DO IN NEBRASKA. and the people are so WEIRD. like they’re either TOO crazy and go wild on weekends or TOO calm and just study all the time. ph and you can be super extroverted and struggle making friends. anyways. force you to talk about deep things with people who don’t care
To begin with I am the parent of the student this review is about:
There is no safety on campus. Untrained, uneducated employees act as security, intimidate students, and overstep their authority.
My daughter was raped in her first 10 days. Nothing was done except offer counseling. Omaha Police not called. We had to do that when our daughter got up the courage to tell us.
Due to daughter looking Hispanic, which she is not, she was discriminated against by Creighton. e.g. she was the only one searched in a room of students and dragged down to the security office. Later they held a kangaroo court to discipline her for being in the presence of drugs and alcohol. Anyone walking into a residence at Creighton is in the presence of drugs/alcohol. Every 3rd or 4th room has drugs and/or alcohol in it.
I recorded our daughter's kangaroo court session which, as her parent, I was allowed to attend but not allowed to speak or I would be ejected. A student is forbidden to have a lawyer but Creighton had their lawyer present! Creighton said our daughter "was not contrite enough". FOR WHAT? She did no wrong.
FYI. Contrary to what Creighton advertises, they are not a private university. They do accept many DoD grants making them non private.
I believe there is a way for users to message me if they would like a copy of the recording of the hearing.
I hope this helps prospective students in their search for an appropriate university.
Creighton is a wonderful and interesting school. The vibe and culture at Creighton is unlike any other school I visited or have been to since. You truly have to come up and visit to understand the mix of academic rigor, party atmosphere, and cult-like groupies. I mean all of this in only the most positive way, of course. So, come down and visit our quirky school. Roll Jays!
Stepping onto foreign soil is never an effortless task, especially when one has no connections besides that of a wi-fi network. Fortunately, the once foreign land of Creighton University, welcomed me into a family larger than life, or as we like to call it... The Nest. Everyone on campus can be seen wearing a warm smile that invites conversation. Moving into the classroom, the academic opportunities are no short of infinite. Professors insight discussions that are still held well after the hour and fifteen minute lecture has ended. The rapport between students and faculty members cannot be beat. Creighton University truly succeeds in making the nest our home.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Creighton University is 70%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Finding out that I can achieve goals if I apply myself to the task.
My classmates are very independent and outspoken.
Except for the freshmen-level science courses (Biology, mainly), classes are small enough that if you speak up every once in awhile or introduce yourself to the teacher, they will definitely learn your name and say hi when they see you outside of class.
Creighton has the perfect size campus. You are constantly running into friends in between classes or on your way out on the weekend. Creighton athletics are amazing, and going to games is one of the best ways to have fun on campus. Plus, we are a wet campus so alcohol is allowed at events and in dorms, if you're over 21 of course.
Omaha is a great place to go to school. Campus is right by the Old Market, and within driving distance to malls, restaurants, Rosenblatt stadium, the Qwest Center which has athletic events and major concerts, and the SlowDown, Saddle Creek Records new bar/concert venue. The underground music scene is amazing here if you know where to look!
You are religious, you have a lot of theology/philosophy classes, there aren't any parties because its jesuit
Well the most popular student group is the Birdcage....the fan club for the basketball team. Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball are the most popular teams on campus. Inter Residence Hall Government is another popular organization on campus. Im involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and I really enjoy being able to communicate about faith with other athletes. Yes students leave dorm rooms open. Athletic Events are huge!! Gust speakers and theater is big too!! 2am oin a Tuesday I am studying or getting up to go run!! Frats and Sororities arent that important on campus. On a saturday night you can go to the old market and have a nice meal....go to a movie....hit the underground music scene.
It is very Catholic but still provides resourses for other religions. The overall cost of this school is more than any others I applied to but with the financial aid they gave me it ended up being the cheapest option.
It's a nice medium sized campus in the middle of nowhere, so its preferable to have a car if u want to get off campus.
There us a lot of core requirements that don't relate to your major as well as some snooty people- very cliquey.
The large core, although somewhat annoying, makes for a very well rounded education. Rather than only taking classes for you major, almost half of your courses require you to take classes you would normally never take, such as theology and philosophy.
Creighton is best known for their medical school and health sciences programs.
I heard that , this school has good reputation in medecine; and by choosing it i wish i can get the best education in my major.
When I talk to my friends about my experience at Creighton University, I always let them know what amazing opportunities I have had. Both my freshman and sophomore years, I was accepted into living communities on Creighton?s campus. My first community was academically focused, which helped me adjust to college and allowed me to form a core group of friends. In my second living community, we spent time in service to the larger Omaha community. Through these experiences, I believe that Creighton has allowed me to grow in unique ways to grow into a fuller and more complete person.
Catholic school kids/nerdy. Yes and no to both. There is a HUGE population of private school kids in general (mostly Catholic, but some other types.) Most people here are sort of nerdy, but you do have some of the Greeks that try to act otherwise.
You have to watch the financial aid office. If you think you are not getting what you should be getting for aid then go in and talk to them. If they can get by with not giving you what you should have then they will. Also, you have to be very careful about transfer credits. There are some subjects like history where it is very difficult to get them to accept the credits.
I recommend any type of person to attend this school, especially those who are determined to make a difference. My school is really diverse and has small class sizes, we are all here for specific career paths in which we want to help people out. Creighton University is not just about using our careers to help people, we are taught to help others through service projects. We help many people in our community as well outside of the community.
If you are not ready to grow as a person and expand your view of the world, I would not suggest coming to Creighton University. Yes, Creighton is challenging academically, but Creighton challenges you to be excellent in every way, not just academically. The Jesuit Values emphasized at Creighton work toward this, and encourage students to develop as whole people. These values are not just important for Catholics, but for every student. If you are not open to this idea, you will be missing out on the greatest thing that Creighton University has to offer you in your college experience.
You are required to live on campus your first two years at Creighton. The freshman and sophomore dorms are not bad, and some of them are actually very nice. My second year I lived in Heider Hall. There was two of us in my room; we had a kitchen, bedroom, living room, bathroom, and a balcony. It was a very large room and I loved living there.
Library. Or the Law Library...not a lot of students know to go there, so it is usually quiet and you can get a lot done there.

All students must apply yearly for financial aid. This process starts with the FAFSA.
Though financial aid deadlines vary by school, it is a good idea to apply as soon as possible. For the upcoming school year, you can apply as early as October 1 for the FAFSA. Additional school aid will be dependent on the FAFSA results.
