Missouri State University is a great place to be. Being here for my first semester was not as daunting as everyone makes college sound. I was able to meet new people the very first week. The university provided many events to accommodate new students.
Overall, Education can be very challenging at times, it's just a matter of looking at which professors are the best for you and reading their reviews.
The culture that comes along with Springfield is a mix of many different types of people, with many students finding different ways to go out and have a good time.
Come join the MSU culture, Go Bears!
I really liked the atmosphere when I visited, and I actually like the campus, activities, and the environment so much I applied as soon as I got home! I love that everyone is so welcoming and that there is something for everyone to do. I also enjoyed that there are many different options for meals, housing, and degree options.
For whatever reason Missouri State doesn't offer academic scholarships to transfer students. Most Professors at MSU don't seem to really care about their students. Professors make students pay for online resources just so they can do their assignment instead of using the resources provided by the school. Don't transfer to MSU after just one year of college somewhere else because you could lose some credits and then be technically a freshman and they make you pay for a dorm even if you are living off campus. But hey the campus is nice!
Most of the professors do not reply back to emails quickly or offer to help if you are struggling. Most of the professors are not tech savvy. The most helpful thing that I experienced there was the advisors. College food is just miniature fast food places that charge the same if not more. They add in a lot of unnecessary fees to each semester's bill. They do not give any academic scholarships to transfer students. They make every student pay their bill to below $1,000 to even register for the next semester, which is not very realistic for every college student to be able to do. There is no aid given in the summer time. They make us pay for the online platforms, including cengage or connect, rather than using free platforms such as blackboard. Overall, the school sucks money out of you any chance they get and does not seem to care about your personal interests.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Missouri State University-Springfield is 84%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.
Do not let money deter you from going to the college you want to go to. I went far away because of a more economical college choice and I am not at peace with my choice. Go where you feel comfortable because it will be your home for 4 years.
MSU is diverse in student body and faculty allowing many different ideas and values to be accepted.
They are friendly, fun, and show many diverse beliefs and personalities.
someone who is going to slack off and not do anything but party and mess around
There is really nothing bad about this school other than maybe the food in the dining halls.
I am currently attending Valencia Community College in Orlando, Florida. I think this college is really good. The school provides me with a very strong academic support by providing easy access to the library online and on-campuses ,also tutorial help is always available whenever I need it. The class rooms and laboratories are fully equipped with necessary technology. For the first two year of general education it is wonderful, and the tuition price is very affordable
Missouri State is homey. The school is large, and there are countless opportunities to meet tons of people. The campus is small enough though, that you can continue seeing all the new people you meet. It is not intimidating to get involved on campus and easy to find organizations that fit any personality or interest. There are tons of opportunities to express leadership and organization skills. The comfort and homey feeling from students and professors make Missouri State stand out from other universities.
I feel like I was well informed.
I think the most frustrating thing about my school is working with the Financial Aid office and receiving help. I wish they were more helpful, because it's not like paying for college on your own isn't hard enough as it is.
Im not really sure but i would say changing the schools name so many times!
People should attend Missouri State University if they are willing to accept the diversity that there is on campus and are dedicated to learning in their respective fields.
Missouri State University's Nursing Program offers an academic standard that no other program in the area can boast. Graduates of their program are not only prepared for a rewarding career as a registered nurse, but are better prepared as American citizens to contribute to society. Graduates of this program are highly sought after for the professionalism, training, community involvement and compassion that MSU ingrained in them. There is no better Nursing Program in Missouri than that offered by Missouri State University.
Missouri State is at the heart of a great community. Due to its public affairs mission, the university encourages community engagement and provides great opportunities to get involved with organizations outside of the university.
The campus itself has beautiful landscaping and beautiful fountains. Behind the student union is a perfect place to sit below a tree and study in peace on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
Missouri State has a unique ability to provide students with the experience of small and large class sizes. Classes range from small groups of less than twenty to lecture-hall style. Even in larger classes, professors are always available to talk to outside of class and encourage students to take advantage of the opportunity. Class participation is key to succeeding in many classes.
At Missouri State University, there are a few different stereotypes around the campus, as is the case for almost any campus out there. These common stereotypes include things like jocks and, of course, frat boys and girls in Greek life. But one stereotype that isn't present on every campus is the stereotype surrounding a student body that includes those from the Midwest. Stereotypes about country students with small town lifestyles. But in my opinion, these stereotypes are not accurate. Of course, there are some students on the campus who fit the stereotypes to a T. But this is not the case overall. Missouri State's student body is extremely diverse when it comes to things like ethnic backgrounds but also when it comes to lifestyles and cultures. Missouri State may be a smaller university by some means, but it is not small or predictable at all when it comes to the cultures that make up the student body.
Maroon Madness is one of the largest organizations on campus. This group rewards members who attend athletic events throughout the year.
I chose to go to Missouri State because they seemed to truly value me more than any other college. I wasn't just a statistic to them. They wanted me to be here because I knew it would create the best pathway to a successful life.
Many of my classes are discussion-based. Professors encourage class participation and are more likely to remember students who actively participate in class discussions. Many classes require participation in discussions for participation points in the class.
Springfield is a great city with lots to offer. A unique and popular Friday night activity is the Art Walk. Held downtown, the streets come to life with art displays and crafts sold by vendors. Art Walk is a popular hangout for college students.
