I love that the campus is rather small. That means getting to class doesn't take half the day, and there is always some place close by to relax and/or eat. I also love that we are so close to down town, and other places that have food, so in case we're hungry for something other than campus dining, we can go off campus without it taking all day. It's also have very nice weather, great professors, and amazing faculty who truly care about our well-being and our success.

I have had multiple experiences at Northern Arizona University within my first year. The university is known to have a good relationship with numerous high schools. A huge advantage to me was that the school is quite affordable with many academic scholarship opportunities based off of your high school GPA. Coming from a single income family, this was the game changer. I arrived to Flagstaff Arizona, eight hours away from my Southern California home. I met a group of friends within the first two days. My entire first semester was a series of ups and downs. I had a hard time taking care of my mental and physical health. By the end of the first semester, I realized that I no longer wanted to attend that School. If that wasn't enough, the start of the second semester, Flagstaff got hit with a record breaking snow storm on the same weekend that I was bed ridden from strep throat. At that point, I had decided that I needed to find a school within the state of California. I had also decided that I would make the most of my remaining time at the university. I was able to be placed in classes that heavily influenced my future career choices. I was also lucky enough to have supportive and outgoing professors in every class. With all the negative points in my first year aside, Northern Arizona University has great staff, a beautiful campus and is an overall great place for a students first time alone. Although it didn't work for me, I learned so many life lessons in the short amount of time that I was there. For that I will be forever grateful for my time at Northern Arizona University.

I honestly enjoy the environment and accessibility Northern Arizona University offers. It's within walking distance of Target, extremely useful for supplies and food; and has amazing on-campus food locations. The housing is comfortable and spacious, and the professors are friendly and always willing to help you out if you've got questions or concerns.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

Northern Arizona University has provided me with a safe learning environment so I can pursue my goals of enriching and enhancing my knowledge of subjects that I love! Also, its food on campus is lacking compared to some other schools, it makes up for it in the sense of community the students create.

It’s a great community with wonderful staff however some decisions made are the benefit of administrative wallets and not of the students. For example, the school sent out an email during the largest snow storm in years saying “if you do not feel like you can safely travel, stay home.” However, classes were still in session after it snowed more than a foot overnight.

Tucked away in the little mountain town of Flagstaff, Arizona is the beautiful NAU campus. NAU has something for everyone, from the new Honors college to the 7000s club, from cute downtown shopping to the amazing trails and Snowbowl, NAU has it all! I have absolutely loved NAU in my time and I cannot wait to continue my education there. The faculty and staff seem to genuinely care about each student, we are not just another number, we are there to learn and progress out chosen field.

I absolutely love NAU. The culture, people, and academics are always pushing me to become mentally stronger, learn as much as possible, and broaden my horizons. I’ve become more open minded and learned more in my time at NAU than I ever thought possible.

What is your overall opinion of this school?

When I first visited Northern Arizona University, I fell in love. I knew right then and there that I will be attending NAU once I graduated from high school. One thing I have learned to appreciate is how alike NAU is compared to my high school which will help ease into this new chapter in my life. I am very excited to be a Lumberjack!

What is your overall opinion of this school?

The school is more academic based so sport events aren’t that big of a deal. The food on campus isn’t that great and there isn’t that many options. The class sizes are average. I hear downtown is nice, but I haven’t really explored it myself. The overall housing on campus is okay.
