My experience at Rowan University was shorter than most others since I was a transfer student. I entered as a junior and everyone was very welcome. The faculty is helpful and supports the success of students. If you are doing poorly there is plenty of tutoring available or you can meet one-on-one with your professor to discuss your poor grades and they will help you come up with a plan to do better. There are plenty of clubs, volunteering opportunities, and campus events available. One downside for me was the Pre-Health Office and I was a pre-dental student. The office provides plenty of great opportunities for pre-medical students but less so for pre-dental. The club is horrible for pre-dental students and the Pre-Health Office seems to mainly focus on volunteer opportunities for pre-med. Luckily, I was able to research and find great dental volunteer opportunities on my own. On the contrary, the office was very helpful in writing a committee letter for my dental school applications and I received five interview invitations and got accepted into three schools. I don't know about any of the sports at Rowan since I don't get involved in that area. The area feels quite safe, I have not had any security concerns. I commuted to class so I don't know what the on-campus living is like, but many students I spoke to felt comfortable. Overall, I would rate my experience as great regarding education and relationships with faculty. They are very kindhearted and love it when you keep them updated with the steps toward your career!

From the first day I started attending Rowan University, I have loved being here. I staff are truly here to help and guide me through my education journey. And I have found a wonderful Christian club, called Chi Alpha in which I have found lifelong friends and grown in my relationship with God.

  6. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

Construction creates problems in areas all over, but currently Rowan is under major construction. Traffic around campus is horrible, sounds of drills and trucks wake you up at all hours, and sometimes certain parts of campus are shut down due to it. I absolutely love Rowan so far but the ongoing construction is a huge nusance. Even though I understand that when it is done the university will be majorly improved, it is presently the one aspect I consider the worst thing about my school.

Before I came to Rowan University, I wish that I knew more about financial aid. Over the semesters I have attended at Rowan, I have been offered no financial aid because the government says my parents make too much money. This came as quite a shock to me because my parents struggle to keep up with bills at home, which often makes me wonder how much a person has to struggle to receive government assistance for school. I also wish I knew about the various amounts of scholarship opportunities available.
